Default Jdm Ej205 into a 2005 WRX

While driving home from work my 193,000 mile ej205 usdm oil pump died and killed my turbo and created a mean rod knock. After getting rebuild quotes I decided I wanted to go with a low miles swap. I don't have the money for a ej207, so please don't tell me to go with a 207. But I wanted to go with a catless downpipe being that I'll have the motor out. From what I've been told I will need the Cobb AP but it's nothe compatible with the jdm ecu. I'm not sure what to do.

I had did this exact swap from a USDM EJ205 over to a JDM EJ205 with AVCS into a 2005 WRX sedan.

I went with a pro-tune via open source (Tactrix cable / ECUFlash)

Main reason I went for a tune was because California only has 91 octane and the JDM motor with a very aggressive timing advance (via AVCS) and higher compression isn't too happy with our watered gas.

Since I knew I would already have to get a tune... I added downpipe, 560cc injectors, fuel pump, bigger intercooler, VF48, and an intake.

Just get a custom tune via open source from a reputable tuner. If you're not sure about all of that start searching for a tuner close to you who knows Subaru's well. Talking to them along with lots of searching on the forums here you'll gain a lot of information on what you need to do.

There is no reason to run the JDM ecu. Get a JDM ej205 without AVCS and strip it down to a long block and transfer over your USDM stuff. Will start right up on the USDM ecu.

Easier said then done.

I'm looking for a good USDM to JDM EJ205 "swap" instructional post.
