Default EJ22 block - EJ20G heads: Exhaust question

So I have a newly rebuilt EJ22 block with EJ20G heads on it. I tried bolting my exhaust off my EJ22 onto it and it seems that the new setup is wider? There is a good half inch gap between the two manifolds and they won't bolt in the middle. The intake bolts up just fine. What gives is the exhaust different or something?!

Why on earth would you whore out shiny piston pics to get an answer to an exhaust question.

Yes....we see you spent some money on pistons. Now figure out why the exhaust won't fit. My guess is that you need to spread the header as you put it up into place. There is no reason why it shouldn't go...... (as long as you are talking about the exhaust and not the intake, which have differences mentioned above).

Oh the exhaust spreads? Is there a flex pipe in the middle or something hiding underneath the heatshield? That would be nice. I'll try again today. Thanks.
