Question Prodrive GC8 muffler on Forester?

You all probably know that I've been in search of a Prodrive WRSport muffler for my car for almost 2 years. I like the look and sound of it better than any of the others I've seen and heard, but they are scarcer than hen's teeth.

I wrote to Prodrive USA asking about them and got a response that a GC8 WRSport muffler woud fit, but that the tip would hang "slightly behind the bumper."

Has anyone tried this? If so, how far behind the bumper is "slightly" and will it cause harm to the bumper? Do any of the exhaust hangers on the backbox itself need to be moved?

Newbie-like questions from someone so long on the boards but I want to cover my bases before I make the leap.

Thanks,
Ed

Like I said on my site...

the only difference between the Impreza GC muffler and the Forester SF muffler is 3" of tip. Look at your stock muffler on your Forester. Now, imagine the tip is 3" shorter. That is it.

I ran a stock RS muffler on my Forester for almost 2 years with no problems. No damage to the bumper. Nada. Ziltch. I guess in theory, there is the possibility of exhaust gasses getting into the passenger compartment if you sit and idle for a long time. I sit in 20 minutes of bumper-to-bumper in my daily commute, and I never noticed any problems though... but YMMV...

Sorry FP, I forgot that your site was still up and I didn't do a search. I'm older than most in this forum and my memory isn't what it was...too young for Alzheimer's but maybe just CRS.

I think I'll either go this route or consider a Brullen catback.

Thanks,
Ed

We should have a sticky like other forums for repeated questions and where to direct new users to FAQ or something.

This is a great idea... being new to the Subaru world (two months and 3075 miles now) I have lots of questions which i've been scanning the forums and internet for to get answers.

If I can help in any way let me know! I could certainly provide some questions!

The WRSport muffler is longer than the stock RS muffler so that should make up some of the 3" difference.

If it does burn the bumper, just get someone to weld on a longer tailpipe!
