So they've actually lowered the prices on the RS and OBS to offset the WRX. Nice job SOA.

A few questions.

Is the 2.5 sedan going to have the same fender flares as the WRX?

Is the 'Sport Tuned' suspension on the 2.5 the same 'Sport Tuned' suspension as on the WRX?

Now, for your oppinion?.?.. Which is better? My 01RS or the 02RS? I realize there is a big weight dif, and I believe the power is the same. But it has the new interior/exterior. They say the WRX has a great driving dynamic, so if it's the same suspension...???

Sorry to open a can of worms, I'm sure this will get beaten to death soon... I'm just asking because that is significantly less than what I agreed to back in Nov. for my Impreza. I could live without the turbo and trade out to that thing with very little trouble... Just thinking out loud here.

What did you pay for your RS? I think the old MSRP was only about $500 more. For that you got wider wheels, better power to weight and a sunroof. Ofcourse, spoiler and hood scoops standard too.

Unhappy

Hell I bought my 00'RS for 2% over invoice last summer. And I paid more than what the 02'RS's will be going for list.

Also had I known that the WRX was coming at the time I would have waited...

Just my luck...

Ok, I have seen a Subaru Impreza Sedan TS in Seattle. First I thought that was an RS, but it had wheel covers instead of alloys, so I walked closer and saw a "TS" emblem.
But, TS has not come out yet right??
This means that one is a totaly fake?
I am confused...

Tekken,

I've also seen a TS sedan in Seattle. Its a canadian version of our Impreza L sedan.

Check out http://www.subaru.ca/english/showroo...s/fs_specs.htm

By my calculation, with destination charge, the new OBS is about $500 more than the old. For the 2.5 engine, CD player (I think) and misc. other features, that seems very reasonable.

The new TS is not as low-end as I thought. Higher price than I thought, but also better-equipped. So really, Subaru has no true low-end or "first car" in their US lineup anymore. All sound like good buys, though.

Oh--and it is nice to finally see what the wagons look like without spoilers. I think they look very good--maybe even better than with.

Bateau,

Now, it makes sense because that TS had a British Columbia License.

well, now the only smart choice is to drive my RS into the ground. No way Ill ever recover the cost with the RS listing for the old invoice. ugh.

Em: Definitely agreed on how the wagons look without the spoiler. I like the look of the new OBS quite a bit actually.

For $500 more than last year's OBS, you get a 2.5L engine (worth more than $500 alone), stiffer body, CD player, floormats, height adjustable driver seat, bigger wheels, better interior, and variable speed wipers. That's one hell of a value increase!

The only downsides: It weighs 180 (auto) or 190 lbs more and is .2 inches lower (not sure about this, plus that's not necessarily bad).

Can't wait to order one...

Did anyone notice this part:

-----CUT------
2.5 TS Sport Wagon
This all-new model provides driving enthusiasts with the added utility of a wagon teamed with the Subaru All-Wheel Driving System. Boasting an impressive list of standard features, the 2002 Subaru Impreza 2.5 TS Sport Wagon features include a 60/40 split fold down rear seatback, air conditioning, a dual mode digital trip odometer and an AM/FM stereo with single-disc CD player. Other popular amenities include a driver side vanity mirror, cargo area cover, body color door handles, roof rails, a gated shifter on automatic transmission models and rear window wiper de-icer.

You see that 60/40 rear seats!!! Wonder if they'll fit in the MY99 RS?

Here is a list of changes I have compiled:

Changes for MY'02 2.5RS
(as compared to MY'01 2.5RS)

-Complete vehicle redesign
-Coupe model no longer available
-Silverthorn Metallic replaced by Platinum Silver Metallic
-Sedona Red no longer available
-150 lb. weight gain
-Same engine
-DRL (Daytime Running Lights)
-Sunroof no longer available
-No silver guage faces
-Carbon Fiber trim is extra
-Replaces the L model
-Cloth interior pattern change
-Same MSRP
-Foglights are now extra
-Rear spoiler extra
-Flat hood (no scoop or vents)
-1/2" narrower rims (16x6.5)
-Console Storage is gone
-Floor mats no longer embroidered
-Rear LSD not available
-1.1" longer overall
-1.0" wider overall
-0.7" less rear legroom
-1.5" height increase
-0.6" front headroom increase
-1.9' increase in turning radius

I am planning in buying 2.5RS, and am pretty sure I want a MY'01 2.5RS Sedan. The sunroof, scoop, guages, and rear LSD scored big points with me over MY'02. My neighborhood dealer has the one I want in stock still, so I am going to see if I can snag it.

Spowr:
MSRP is $500 LESS
Floor mats ARE Improidered.
Storage console is not gone.
Same silver touches as the WRX.
Same suspension as the WRX.
Improved Chasis (MUCH improved)
Improved build quality.
Improved seats.
Improved Cloth materials.
Improved Interior quality.
Improved interior dimensions.

Yes, the rice is gone... But, you still have time to make up you mind between a 8 year old model and a brand new model.

The LSD is the only legitimate complaint to me... Why did they do that anyway?
