Hi guys, been reading around about my 2003 bugeye. Completely stock except for exhaust. Looking for a turbo upgrade kit? Or even seperate. I want to learn more about how the Cobb tuner works. I want a lot of hp. I want a whole kit or injectors fuel pump and what else? Like a vf39? Thanks for helping.

I am going to post a nice reply before some tries to tear you a new one. There is a LOT of great info under specific sub forums that will answer your question exactly. Please start there as well as using the search button. If you find some info that you don't fully understand or just have a question about feel free to post it. I am sure others will post on this tread a similar comment with out being so kind. Welcome to the suby family and enjoy that wrx I had an 02 myself and loved that car. Traded it in 2 years ago for a legacy gt and still miss it to this day.

Fill out your profile. Location, car, etc. Go to a subaru performance shop near you, and ask them this question. not a bunch of random people on the internet. Cuz I will tell you to do this:

STI 6 speed trans
build your 2.0 to handle the hp
35r turbo
injectors
pump
tune
exhaust
the list goes on. It will cost you well over $15,000.

Or you could be more specific. tell us a hp number you want, and ur budget. Or jsut go talk to professionals.

Come up with an actual hp goal you want to hit, keep in mind a stock wrx 02-05 makes ~175whp and not much more than 250whp at stage 2 top figures

And a budget, turbo upgrades aren't cheap and supporting mods need to be considered along with unexpected breakages after the work is done, if you want us to help you we need these 2 things from you

Thumbs up

You have a lot of researching to do my friend. Bug eyes have great potential to be monster machines. But you need to think about the age of the car and how delicate subies are at an old age. You want to make lots of power but you need to think about supporting mods first and maintenance like the other guys have said. Start with doing a complete multi-point inspection on the engine first. Check mounts for all engine, drivetrain, and rear diff. check all fluids, hoses, and chassis for signs of rust. Remember the bug eyes are a bit old. After all those things checkout start your build. SUPPORTING MODS FIRST! Exhaust, intake, fuel, clutch, mounts, Bushings. Make the car RELIABLE before upgrading power! There are plenty of Forums here on Nasioc to get you in the fast lane. You also have the help and advise from your fellow members! Enjoy and GL!

Sorry i forgot to explain about the Cobb Tuner program. Lets start with the basic. The cobb Tuner is an EXCELLENT program overall. Its a safe, proven tune to help you start off at where u want to go. One of the first supporting mods you will want to go with will be a Cobb accessport. It will unleash some unhidden potential your bugeye has. Espicially with the exhaust. The accesport contains off the shelf maps from stage 1 all the way to custom pro tune maps from tuners. A cobb accesport will help to assist you in getting the power you need. You just need to right supporting mods from each map. Each supporting mod you do, you will need to put up that stage map in the accessport handheld. So you say you have an exhaust. Right there alone you should be at least a stage 2, depending on if you are running a downpipe or upipe. You need to check. There are many functions the cobb accessport throws at you. It shows how your car is performing at all times. IT shows the A/F ratios and IAT's, and even how much boost your pushing out. If i was you i would get my hands on one. It leads you to start in the subaru world. You have to learn to crawl before you can walk. Get the accessport!

Is this a Subaru forum or a late night infomercial? I think both you and the OP need to do some reading:

Speed costs money. How fast do you want to go? (Or, more importantly, how fast can you afford to go?)
