With .028 it started blowing out at 34.
Update:
  • Stock heat range Iridium's came out and were gapped around 0.027"
  • One step colder Copper's went in and were gapped around 0.021"
  • Upgraded from stock 70A alternator to OEM 110A alternator
  • Upgraded battery negative to chassis ground with 2AWG welding wire
  • Upgraded TGV to chassis ground with 2AWG welding wire
  • Upgraded battery positive to alternator with 2AWG welding wire
Not seeing any blow out, but I haven't done a lot of driving recently due to rain.

Just for fun I plotted my data on top of the RSTI data that jnorth posted. Very similar powerband.

I believe the turbo's have similar sized compressors (his may actually be larger), but the exhaust housing is different as well as many other parts of the builds.

Looks like his AVCS is helping a bit in the midrange, but mine is carrying the top end a bit stronger. I think that stock location housing is just choking it out, but my setup still drops off up high as well.

Good deal on the blow out issue. I think a lot of it was gap. We ran Doogies LGT up to 39 psi peak on stock iridiums gapped to .024 and had no issues at all.

Yeah, I wanted to see more top end out of this custom turbo but it just didn't have it. Big improvement in the mid range and good power for a stock location turbo but you are right, its just choked up. We will see how it can scoot down the track now. 6800 rpm shift points should work. I'd love to see a better fmic core on this car too. It heat soaks a decent amount on the dyno pulls. The ETS core we run in other cars such as the LGT does so much better.

I had tried to gap them down to 0.025 I believe but my tool only goes from 0.023 to 0.028 or something like that and I think I was a lot wider than I thought I was. They're gapped way down now, so it should avoid any future issues. Going to coppers should give me a nice strong spark and since I only drive the car a few thousand miles a year it shouldn't be a big deal to change them out.

My TurboXS style core that I used last year was also kinda small, so I'm glad I got the big Treadstone core for this setup. I think it's one of the biggest ones on the market for these cars. The ETS ones also look really nice. I really need to get an IAT sensor in my post-intercooler FMIC piping one of these days. Right now I really don't know what it's getting up to. Feels ice cold to the touch though. Even on the dyno.

Yeah, that's the issue with coppers, they don't last long but with not driving it often, its not a big deal.

I figured you'd already have your IAT being used for charge temp with running speed density. I know guys do without but you should have it that way since charge temp is used in the calculation of airflow. I would have thought Nuke would have insisted on this.

Installed some Hella horns on my car. They're on the upcoming GrimmSpeed bracket.

Outfront Motorsports alternator relocation bracket.

Install:

The bracket came with a 28" belt, but it wouldn't fit on my car. The 110A alternator hits the block and stops it from swinging all the way down in the Outfront bracket. I went to the store and got the next size up, which happened to be 39.25". This fits fine, but the alternator is at the very top of the adjustment range. I will be trying to find a 28.5" belt at some point. I think that would be perfect.

I've never been a fan of black wheels, but I ended up with black RPF1's because it was too good of a deal to pass up, but I've always been considering a change.

I decided I'd try Plasti Dipping them and see how it would look. I like an OEM-ish silver/gunmetal look but I cheaped out and got the matte gray Plasti Dip.

I painted them with tires on just by sticking index cards in the bead to block overspray. I used 3 full cans for the faces (and overspray onto the barrels) of the 4 wheels.

Honestly, I don't like it at all. I'm not sure what I'll do. It will probably stay for a little while, but it will probably be changed or removed eventually.

Some shots of the painted CF hood and the wingless trunk. Also seen are the awful Plasti Dip gray wheels.

The car in garage shot makes the wheels look terrible... Out in the light though it's really not as bad.

Now that I see the gray I think white would actually be better. I just hate how dirty the white Plasti Dip gets. I think the silver looks good but I went cheap and got the gray. At this point I might just leave them black until I swap tires and then get them powder coated. Or maybe try and find someone to trade with.

Over the weekend I swapped in an 04 WRX cluster. Direct plug and play. I wanted it for the center tach.

I ended up swapping back because center tach doesn't work with my steering column mounted GoPro.

You should pop them open and swap the STI silver surrounds over into your cluster and depending on how adventurous you feel you could also swap over the needles.
Combine those things with the LED mod and you've got a full STI cluster

Oh, I wish I would have thought of doing the surrounds. That does look a lot nicer. The cluster is already gone though. Went to a local friend with another 600WHP Bugeye.

honestly, you should just rattle can the wheels a nice deep gunmetal finish or do some kind of crazy color.

silver wouldn't look bad either...but now you know that DIP is not the way to go

I might try the "aluminum" Plasti Dip next. Not sure yet. I just think the flat finish on these looks terrible.

I like the color a lot. I could take or leave the flat finish, but I don't hate it.

I had the Mach V on my 2011, remember? I got them right when they came out.

Also, I will not do gold wheels. I am trying to stand out less, not more.

Updated video on the 35psi tune that made 666WHP. 50-100mph came in at 3.36 sec.
