![]() i am going be getting a WRX Wagon and i really wanted to test drive one on saturday. the car dealer i went to (in ramsey, NJ) had non friendly sales people, so i am wondering if anyone has any good places to go to get good service. i live in bergen county, NJ and would drive to middlesex county in order to get one?
any ideas, any hookups, anything would help. thanks mike

![]() Here are two suggestions:
Watch for a local meet and see who's going and what cars they have. Then e-mail or PM them to see if they'll give you a demo. Next: go a little further North and see Bill Kolb in Rockland County. Joe. |

![]() If you don't want to travel far then I'd suggest Town Motors.
Garrett works in service, I'm sure he can hook you up with his friend in Sales. ![]() |

![]() Hey Mike,
I live relatively close to you (Rockland Cty, NY) and I've just bought a new Outback Sport so I think my experience could be useful for you. While shopping the dealers in the area, I visited Liberty Subaru in Oradell, NJ, Ramsey Subaru in Ramsey, NJ and Bill Kolb Jr. in Orangeburg, NY. I had the same impression about Ramsey that you did: not really friendly salespeople with pushy attitudes and high prices. Oradell was pretty good in terms of people, but really small (they claim to be the highest volume dealer in the area but their lot is the same size as my driveway and they didn't have many cars to test drive). Their prices were reasonable, but not the best. Out of all of these dealers I got the best deal from Bill Kolb and that's where I purchased my car from. I'll just give you some numbers and you can figure it out from here yourself if they do give good deals or not. I paid $18,288 for the car + $10 inspection fee + $20 doc fee + $1553 tax (8.125%) + $75 processing fee (to get the color that I wanted since they didn't have it on their lot....so if you get the car off the lot you don't pay this extra $75) The options that I got were: - automatic transmission - armrest extension - splash guards - rubber strips on the roof (instead of cargo net that I've originally requested, but that's a very minor thing) Carsdirect.com gave me a quote of $18,889 for the same configuration and an invoice of $19,164. Edmunds gives a True Market Value price of $18,806. So figure out yourself if something like that would be a good deal for you or not. I think it was pretty good and that's why I went for it. No matter where you decide to get your car from, email the internet sales manager first and get their quote---it will always be lower than if you just walk into the dealership and talk to a floor salesperson. At Bill Kolb the difference between floor and internet salespeople was about $500 (floor being higher). Even though I didn't get the WRX the pricing differentials on it would be similar to what I've just described. So if you have any questions about the buying experience in North Jersey/Rockland Cty areas feel free to email me (and I could get you the contact info for the salesperson that I've dealt with). Nick |

IMO, skip the factory "security upgrade" and do some research on some of the good aftermarket systems mentioned in the "stolen" threads. -Dennis |

![]() Subaru security system is not the best so I did the same thing, didn't get it with the car...but now I'm looking at various aftermarket systems...I like the new Clifford RS3 (with the 2 way FM communication and remote starter), however it's pricey so I might go for something else. That's also one of the reasons why I didn't get the WRX (or the 2003 Maxima that I was also considering). Maxima's lights get stolen regularly and each one costs about $900 to replace, so maintenance costs for these "disposable lights" would be a lot. WRX is a good car, but I was looking for a car with an auto tranny and the automatic just kills the turbo, so that's why I've decided to get the OBS. The 2.5 has plenty of grunt plus I like the 2 tone paint.....Maybe I'll get a used WRX in 5 years or so (just as a 2nd car for fun)

So if you want to get an automatic tranny take a look at the OBS and the TS....performance difference is minimal between them, but the price isn't (and insurance premiums are higher for the WRX)......But if you're fine with the manual transmission then the Rex is the way to go.... If you get the auto WRX Fat Tits will do the same to you that I did to the target (in the attached pic) ![]() |
