Well it looks like Toyota is attempting to make true on that "no more boring cars" pledge.

Interesting that they are bucking the trend by using a supercharger vs a turbo.

What's more interesting is this micro hatch could be green lighted a supercharger and will likely be quicker than the 86. What universe is Toyota smoking?

Well at least we might see some STI badges on the Crosstek. They'll offer it in yellow with STI badges! We don't need no stinkin' badges! |

2,300lbs+/- with 205bhp is not too shabby; wonder how much a pulley & tune will do for that mill, and if they've done anything with the rear suspension (eg. IRS/DWB in place of the torsion bar).

I doubt this will make it to the States, which is unfortunate for car fans. This sounds like a fun, reliable, affordable little car. Maybe Toyota will surprise us and bring it here, as it would spice things up nicely, without seemingly costing them very much. Makes me want to dig out an old copy of "Sport Compact Car" to flip through. I think I still have about 10 or so I saved, stuck in a box somewhere...

This car appears to have the right ingredients to actually be fun. Now fix the looks.

fuel efficiency, or more realistically, potential fuel efficiency (to mesh well with EPA testing) sc efficiency vs tc efficiency - without getting too into it, sc efficiency drops off at higher RPM's, small displacement DOHC I4's by design are winders. |

Seems like alot of stock cars came with root blowers, seems like it would be more efficient to pair them with centri chargers, especially if you have a high reving engine, just need room in the engine bay to fit it. I know when i fit one on my 3800 v6 that thing would hit hard at 3k and keep pulling past my 6400rpm cutoff. |

But in a twisty road kind of car I prefer a S/C. The throttle response is instant and the power comes on quite linear.

I see a bunch of the Fiat Abarth's running around. This would be a neat, more reliable competitor for those living in cities and wanting a small car. That population in the US seems to be ignored by most manufacturers, unfortunately.
