The Stage 2 Tuff Block is rated at 625bhp. If your 580 is whp, then by specs you're about at the limit.

Hp ratings posted about "staged blocks" are tough to really quantify seeing a tuner can kill a block rated for 600hp well before that mark or they can use little tricks to keep it on the safe side past that arbitrary number.

Do you have a good tumer? Do they know the engine? Did you ask for a number or did you ask for a safe tune?

Its all relative to how the power is made: timing, boost and afr all play a roll and all bring different levels of engine stress.

Thanks! It was all done in Georgia long story short I took it to shift fast yesterday to have it gone over and looked at before JR tunes it on February 6th. First they said JR will not tune my car on Bosch injectors and that 580 is to much. So just trying to gather some information before I go back down there on February 6th.

Iím ordering ID1080x tomorrow cause thatís the hole reason I took it down there was to have a actual reputable tuner see it.

So it currently has a tune making 580whp and your just having JR re-tune the car because you would prefer him to tune it? Or it hasnt been tuned and you "want a 580hp sti"?

It has been tuned. But there are tune realted issues and the injectors. The tuner in Georgia told me it was something to do with air fuel so Iíve been through the ringer trying to data log and keeps sending different maps and even changed 02 and still bad. Shift fast also recommended itís a bad tune my original tuner is 7 hours away and I move a lot for my job now Iím local to shift fast and itís just been a headache so I took it to them yesterday to prep before JR on February 6th I donít mind if he thinks power needs to come down but I hope to stay at 550 HP 30 grand and not even a 600HP car really sucks .

With those size injectors you must be doing it on pump. You could get your 600hp on E-85, but you'll need bigger injectors and better fueling. Thought about flex-fueling?

I guess if thats what he wants and he is who you want to tune it. So when you tell them you want 550+hp they are recommending a 1000cc ish injector?

Sounds like a lot of moving parts and an issue that hasn't been pin pointed. Good luck, hope the 6th brings some clarity.

Seems to be contradicting the website, plus I bought the same block and James from IAG helped me step by step, power goal as a reliable daily greater then 450whp. Following for updates.

A few questions:
1. Are you keeping the car? Previous posts mention you will be selling.

2. If keeping, will you be 'retuning' the car?

3. To clarify you made 460 awhp but you want to make 550 awhp? So you have upgraded your injectors to ID1300? Fuel pump up to the task?

4. You may be making more power than the block is rated for, but that is the plan correct? Sounds like your tuner is more than qualified to give you a safe tune

5. You are getting tuned with the oil looking like above? Get a Blackstone Oil Analysis.

Good luck.

FWIW I have a 2004 STi that I sometimes LOVE and other times want to replace. Yesterday it started fine, but one headlight was out. Started it again later in the day and the headlight worked. Yeah, for chasing down what sounds like a bad ground or electrical issue.
