Awesome video! I knew the landscape was familiar, I'm from Chester County and it definitely looked like it, especially with the horse farm. Valley Forge is a great location for filming!

The best STI ever built was a coupe. But ever since then they haven't replicated that formula of a lightweight coupe version.
If they did and if it was a limited production model you know they would sell out almost immediately. In order for the car to not look like a pile they would have to completely change the roof line of the car and dimensions of the cabin, in other words produce something closer to the concept wrx and make it a 2 door. Do some special aesthetics like implement more of the concept car, cut some serious fat out of the body weight (bring it down to 3000 lbs) and produce a new engine that puts out 320bhp with a twin scroll turbo and it will be gold. I would be more than happy to put down 40-45k for one if they did that. although my wife would be pissed lol |

The 22B was such a special car, not so much from a performance standpoint, but for Subaru in general. There was such high hopes for the new "WRC" class Impreza and it was truly a masterpiece when it was unveiled, it just seemed the entire company was enthralled in World Rally. Plus, the late 90's rivalry between Subaru and Mitsubishi , the WRX and Evo , and STi and Ralliart was at an epic level. Such an exciting time to be a Subaru fan. The 22B was a culmination of all of this. I feel very fortunate to be one of the guys at the "Motorweek" meet back then when they brought the 22B over for us to witness it. It might not seem like much today, but back then when genuine STi parts were VERY hard to come by, to see not only a real-life STi version, but the version of all versions, it was, and will always be, special. |

The STI coupes aren't lightweight but are possibly the best GC8 Imprezas made...something about only having 2 doors seems to make them a little special imo.

So yes for what it was it was very light weight. It is not like a MR-S or Lotus if that is what your bar is set for light weight but for an AWD car 2800 lbs is pretty damn light. Last edited by Lrn2Corner; 12-10-2013 at 11:24 AM. |

Well they weigh virtually the same as the saloons....if you want a lightweight AWD then the RA is what you want

As for the 16in brakes. Subaru is weird with their measuring. 16in brakes means the smallest OE wheel that will clear is a 16. Always been that way. |

I have been in this car it was at one of the Subie East Coast shootouts a number of years back. I got a chance to ride in it on the way to get dinner after the event.

Fantastic looking video. But I'm gobsmacked that an official Subaru video has so many errors in it.
"22B" is hexdecimal for 555; it has nothing to do with the engine size. I don't what he is talking about with regards to the WRC/World Rally Cars either, as he gets his facts completely wrong there! Irrespective though, I want a 22B! Quote:
