AEM. Its not too noisy and it draws in cooler air from the fender so the throttle response is more consistent. There was a time before the Cobb SF intake came out for the GR cars when Cobb said they saw the highest gains from the AEM due to the colder air than any other intake.
If you're afraid of water ingestion go with the Cobb SF. Although I hear its annoyingly loud which may or may not be a concern to you. I chose the AEM and I am happy. |

AEM all the way. The filter is far away from the engine/radiator and it has a the engine bay shield to keep more heat away from it.
Only downside (not for me/my location) is that there's a potential for water to get to it if your local roads get flooded. |

Guys,
Thanks for the replies. I am going to look into some DIY water protection methods people have used while running the AEM CAI... |

I'm using the Perrin Intake and Perrin Stage 1 flash. No complaints, looks and sounds nice and the car opened right up with the reflash.
The whole reason I went with an intake was because my stock airbox was rattling with the air dam that connects from the front. I thought it would be a good time to add an intake, even though there are no/minimal gains even with a tune. I plan to continue with Perrin on my car, but COBB is just as good. |

If you run into hydrolocking problems with a CAI, you must be trying to drive through a friggin river.

I hydrolocked my motor going through a deep puddle that was about 2 feet deep a couple years ago. It was dark out, so I didn't really see the puddle or how deep it was. I had a Prodrive CAI on at the time. I still have it, and I sometimes think about putting it back on. Sometimes **** happens. I never thought I'd be dumb enough to drive through a puddle deep enough to do that.

Its not possible to hydro lock your engine in 2 inches of water, which isn't deep in the first place. I live is south Florida where it rains a ton. It is not uncommon for streets to become flooded. I just choose not to drive down those streets. ::shrug::
If you drive slow you shouldn't have a problem with any puddles under 6 inches deep. |

Maybe not hydrolock but water a small amount of water can still mess up the Sensor. Just letting the OP know a potential issue if flooding is an issue in their area. Driving slow is the key but takes away the fun in drivng in the rain... though I still prefer the AEM |

On a side note has anyone used the AEM filter sock? They recommend it due to its water resistant properties. I could see this maybe working for resisting splashes but there is no way it will save you if you submerge the car in water deep enough cover the entire filter element. Thoughts? |

I have a filter sock on my cone filter on my short ram. I can tell you just from my experience washing it, that the filter sock will do nothing against submersion.

Are you dead set on getting an Access Port? You can get an open source tune that will be more suited to your car for less than the cost of the AP if you have a tuner around that can do a street tune. This is the rout that I went an it really opens up your options when it comes to parts.
I'd say, if possible, to ditch the AP and use the money you save to buy an electric boost control solenoid (EBCS) and some driveline bushings/mounts, or just do the smart thing and pocket the savings for payments or gas or something. |

^I disagree. The AP is well worth the money and ATR is free with the AP. Open source does not have the features the AP has. Its really nice being able to swap tunes on the fly and data log without hauling a laptop around.

i dont understand why people dont like having the AP. it's a nice tool. sure you save $500 if you skip it. is it worth getting a $500 tool for a $30k car? i think so.
