i would say thats a no because the process of manualizing an automatic is removing and plugging the accumulators with freeze plugs (along with other modifications). since they are not there and the trans still shifts, a broken one would tell me that it’s still possible to select a gear with the shifter.

Resurrecting this, I have an 09 impreza 2.5i wagon with the 4EAT, where can I find a good kit to get better, faster shifts out of it? Am planning on shipping the trans off to level 10 bulletproof trans for a full build on it in a year or two, because of a build I'm doing on the car in the next year or two, but I'd like a better shift feel in the mean time

I would steer clear of Level 10 unless its been revamped. Pistons and trans kit is definitely a must. Let me know, I have a brand new set of pistons for sale.

Yo. I was going to revive this, but you out revived me...
Just put in Ratiotek kit(HD).
ITS A MONSTER.
My pistons were in perfect shape, but I wish all those ppl from this thread I've messaged, actually answered me...
If you send your VB and the kit, we can do it for ~150$.
Also recommend to include the 3 small screen filters and the large one.
If you have new pistons, we'd throw them in.
Wait is yours 4EAT Phase 2 V1 or V2? They're different. On V2 you just need one mod I think.
Also when you pull it make sure:
1. Be careful, it'll spill everywhere. Drain it.
2. Take all silver and two long reamer bolts out.
3. Use a pick to disconnect solenoids, carefully.
4. Use brake cleaner and drain pan. There will be TON of ATF.
5. While VB is away, clean the mating surface with razor blade carefully, or with plastic blade, no care required. Clean the pan as well. Magnet, plug, everything.
6. Get new ATF filter if you want at that time. SoA is 32$ NAPA Gold or similar is 9$.
7. Get a fluid transfer pump for the ATF. It won't be easy(on turbo).
8. It will continue to leak throughout the process, just keep cleaning.
9. When it's all in(18.7 Plug 21mm, 3.8 Pan Bolts 10mm, 5.8 VB Bolts 10mm, lb/ft) fill the 2 gallons in.
10. Test the gears 10 sec in each running. 2x. Check fluid level, it'll be on the bottom of cold. Drive 10 min it'll be probably bottom hot. Should be good. Or measure temps.
11. Profit.

I'll post this in Ratiotek thread and if people want details HOW to DIY I can post it too. I work on Subaru's a lot, but I took a second seat here to the Pro, who've done those on multiple trannies(not Subaru's).

Same here, do these fit in a 2011 Forester XT 4EAT?

I am about to send my valve body to IPT.

You have got a Phase 2 Version 2 4EAT.

This one is a dead duck anyway, no response back from Strider
