same cant wait for a exhaust system lol i miss my muffler delete only for the note but cause we want accurate tests/results with just this specfic turbo mods dont want to disrupt it with a muffler delete

Recently Ive been noticing that my oil consumption is getting worse. When I first bought this car I was basically going through a quart of oil every 3k miles. After my last oil change the oil was full until 1,700 miles in. Ever since I had to add a few drops at 1,900 miles I have been routinely checking the dip stick every week. Every 200 miles or so when I check the oil it is a tiny bit under the full mark and I have to add a few ounces. I have 44k on the car right now....I am going to ask for a consumption test when i go for my next oil change. Lets just say I meet the standards for a short block replacement...would this be covered under my extended warranty? If not would I be screwed into paying thousands of dollars?

At 44k you at still covered under factory warranty

remember they changed it to 1/3 of a quart too, so if they say it's 1qt minimum, tell them to contact SOA.

Oh, well if your oil level is still at the full mark after 1,200 miles, I don't think the dealership will do a consumption test.

Right. But now I'm having to add oil every 300 miles. It's only a few ounces but still....it's under the full mark.

Some questions:

How long do you wait after turning off the car before checking your oil level?

Do you always check the oil level with the car parked in the same place?

Do you know that the car is sitting on level ground when you check the oil level?

I let the car sit over night and check first thing in the morning. The car is literally always in the exact same spot in the driveway which is completely level.

Why don't you let it go 1200 miles before checking the oil instead. That would give you a better idea if you are at the threshold or not. Doesn't sound to me like the low light would come on in that time

I actually want to drive until the light goes on just to see when I am officially one qt low. I'm scared of premature engine wear due to lack of oil which is why I keep filling it even if it's just a few ounces.

That's the difference between the oil level light and the oil pressure light. The oil level light tells you to check the oil level. It does not indicate that the engine is starved of oil. No engine damage occurs as long as the oil pressure light remains off.

I knew the difference I just always assumed that if it was lower than full there could be damage that occurs. If the light goes on the engine is one quart low correct?

Yes, but the level needs to be much more than 1 qt low before oil pressure is lost. No manufacturer is going to make the margin of error that tight.

As long as there's oil pressure, no damage is occurring to the engine. The oil level light is a shot across the bow, not an indication of immediate doom.

Has anyone tried to add seat ventilation on cloth seats? I don't know of any aftermarket kits, but on a cloth seat it seems like maybe you could do it fairly easily with moderate effort and disassembly.
