These pictures are mine. If you want to "take" them for some purpose, contact me and we'll talk about it.

That's fine. If you post them, just mention that I took them. A link to our web site wouldn't hurt.

Thanks,

You wanted help. I offered help. The only thing useless is you refusing my help. Maybe you can be a little more descriptive in what you're looking for.

And check my profile... I don't own a Subaru anymore, but I've had about 14 of them over my life.

Last time I was at the Syms facility in Gunma, the car was sitting in their showroom. Here are my only pics...

It's been a while ago, but some details I remember about it:

- The engine was supposed to make 300hp. And yes, it's non-turbo.
- The whole engine/tranny was moved back for better weight distribution. The driver's seat is pushed back as well, and it's super-low.
- The fender flares are huge, as you can see. Wheels are center-lock type -- no lug nuts.
- It cost a huge amount of money to construct. I think the figure mentioned was $250,000.

Okay, one detail I remember from my Syms visit, that I think was on this motor, was that it used roller barrel throttle bodies. I understand these are used in motorcycles and fancy race cars. The idea is that when the throttle is open, there's no butterfly to get in the way of the flow.

Id like to see more pics of the engine too. It would probably help w/ the ITB set up we are trying to figure out.

I think I can arrange some more information for you. Most likely the car /engine were built by The same guys that do our rally engines.

more info on the engine would be sweet...I have a good guess as to what they did internally but would really like to see.

completely high jacking: what issues are you having with getting ITB's to work? Done some custom manifold/throttlebody design and fabrication work. Also still working on my rollerbarrel ITB's

Unfortunately the team who developed the car isn't at Syms these days, so I couldn't get much more information. Here are a few more little details:
  • The engine internals are "confidential," so they wouldn't tell me about it.
  • Displacement is 2000cc or a little less
  • The car was not AWD, but rear-wheel-drive. It used a rear differential from a BMW.
  • It had a sequential gearbox.
  • That car I saw in the showroom is no longer there, but is stashed away, covered up, in a warehouse now.

I'm supposed to be getting my manifolds back today from my fabricator. I haven't run into any issues yet but it never hurts to look at someone else's work.

Default More Photos,Video, or Audio

I'm curious to know if anyone has, knows somone who has, or knows where to find video footage or audio of this beast running. I'd like to hear what it sounds like. Also wondering if anyone has any better resolution pics of under the hood than the stuff on 7tune. Actually, any good resolution pics of the car would be great. Thanks in advanced. And thanks to Mach V Dan for all that has already been contributed.

Those Roller throttle bodies are better known in the motorcycle community as flat slides.....they are really finicky and their part-throttle response isn't good. They do well at WOT.
