Looking to go from Stage 0 to Stage 2.5...Need Expert Advice
Looking to install:
-TurboXS Stealthback w/Stromung 2.5" axle back -K&N Short RAM -Cobb AP -Large 20X9X2.5 FMIC Keeping stock turbo.. Is there anything I am missing from the list? Anyone else running similar setup? Any reliability issues? I figure I can install this all myself...I have a bit of auto work experience, but it was more on open wheeled cars and not Subaru's..but I figure these installs are all basic. How will the STi run with these mods? Will the injectors be maxed? Will the low end feel like crap and the top feel like a monster? Any info is good info.

Just because the FMIC is bigger doesn't mean it flows better. You may want to post the actual FMIC brand.
As well, I think you'll find that most people suggest sticking with your TMIC if you're not changing the turbo. You're bound to see increased lag with an FMIC and your STi TMIC already does a good enough job cooling the stock Turbo. Besides, the AP maps available from Cobb aren't meant for an FMIC. oh yeah, you're injectors will be fine. -J Last edited by Jitenshakun; 08-19-2005 at 02:07 PM. Reason: typo |

DO NOT GET the FMIC - the TMIC is more than good with that setup.. waste of money IMO .. for that money on that FMIC - I would get the DeFi gauges the boost, egt, and oil pressure.. that would be smarter

thanks for the input...
no big a$$ IC. Not to be a big loser, but is there anyway to mount the stock TMIC as a FMIC...I am running wingless and would love to go scoopless as well (just for aesthetics).... what (if any) FMIC could I get that wouldn't give me lots of lag? Could I mount the stocker up there? |

I guess the INLET/OUTLET locations of the stock TMIC would make it difficult to turn FMIC

I belive APS makes a smaller FMIC that isn't too big for the stock turbo.

An intake or a FMIC would be bad ju-ju with your Accessport. Going outside of Cobb's specs generally nets you 0 additional HP and possibly all sorts of idle/powerband/driveability issues. I've been down that road and it's not a fun one. Stick to their path or get a AccessTUNER and either tune yourself or get a pro to do it.
