Hmmm... Never thought to watch the sub versions. Now I have an excuse to re-watch the entire series again! Especially now that I drive something formed after the spirit of the 86.

I never got a chance to watch any of the extra episodes that weren't dubbed. I'm honestly not picky about dubbing, but I would love to see what was possibly lost in translation with the subs.

Good bump.

You get much more out of subtitled foreign movies in their original language. You may not understand what is said without reading it, but you can much better hear intended moods, emotions, etc. Sometimes the dubbed versions seem like just some guy reading the lines from a sheet, with no real idea what scene he is even portraying.

While I agree, I never took Initial D serious enough to even think to sub it. I did with Samurai Champloo, Trigun, Death Note (it may have only been subbed), and any live-action foreign film (example: anything by Jean-Pierre Jeunet besides Alien: Resurrection). Some just do not have that caliber of quality for me to think, "You know, if I watched this subbed, I would get SO much more out of the experience." Initial D is one of the shows where I watched it because I wanted to see what all the rage was and to see cool cars. Since it seems that subbing only enhances the experiences, I'm much more eager to re-watch the show now.

Eureka 7 might be worth re-watching subbed, now that I'm in doubt of which one's I've seen subbed...

Yeah, I was going to start a new thread, but I was sure Initial D was discussed before, so I did a search and found this to the be most appropriate one

Yeah, well,

Those who have actually watched the series all know that he stepped UP to a WRX when it was all said and done….after that pile let go.

Lol sorry Mike, but those who follow the series knows he sticks with the 86 and never races behind the wheel of a Subaru.

Initial D is the main reason I love Japanese cars. "No piece of crap -86 can beat my Lan-evo!"

The way I remember it was that his father bought a WRX and waxed his son's butt on the mountain to teach him a lesson.

The boy then began using the WRX to deliver tofu and was developing skills in that car when the series ended the 4th stage. They never showed him actually racing the car but it was implied that he was going that direction.

To my knowledge, I've watched all the available episodes.

I didn't really think that was implied at all. The purpose (in my view) was to expand his abilities and broaden his horizons. Knowing your enemy, in order to better to defeat them.

Remember he only drove the Impreza every other day. Fanbase assumptions could turn up being correct that he switches to the FRS. Either way I definitely expect a different vehicle, otherwise 5th stage will just be a repeating story. I just don't expect to see him in a AWD platform.

He does alternate between the two cars for tofu deliveries. However for project D he continues to use the ae86.

Depending on how they close they follow the manga I don't forsee Takumi going to a ft86 in the near future.

Wow I had seen all of the episodes through stage 4 and the movie. I hadn't really watched this stuff in 5 years. I'll have to catch up.

Who else thinks Itsuki is their favorite character? Or Maybe Troll Dad Bunta?
