Dash accents - how to remove?
Anyone know how to remove the silver dash accents (those two silver bars on the drivers side and passenger side dash).
I'm thinking of plastidipping them orange to match my XV color. --kC

The service manual makes it look like those trim pieces are held in with typical clips, so you should be able to use typical trim removal tools to pop them out. It also looks like if you remove the trim pieces that are along the side of the dash (the plastic covers that are up against the door when the door is closed), you can reach behind the trim pieces you're trying to remove and push them from the backside.
On the passenger's side, you might need to remove the glove box first, too. |

Somebody here removed them to wrap in CF vinyl, pretty sure they pop off with a flathead or those plastic panel tools.

I popped mine off today with a flat head but it did bang up my dash vinyl or whatever it is ... Maybe someone with a gentler touch could do it nicer lol. I am hoping armor all will restore the nice black color.
Anyone know how to remove the silver trim around the shifter? And that little silver piece on the steering wheel? |

The teim will rattle and be very loose if you arent careful. I'm having mine done by a body guy. I tried getting it off myself, and mine wouldn't come off at all. $20 worth of teim removal tools didn't even phase mine.
Best of luck, post pics! |

Mine were pulling the entire dash panel behind them up. the trim pieces themselves pulled so far off without popping off that the entire clip was fully visible. It has me completely baffled.

The "clips" are molded into the accent pieces, and they slode into slots molded into tue panel behind. So if something gets broken it will be a bit pricey.

Sounds like you're pulling wrong. I started next to the door panel and just shoved in a long, broad flathead and popped the first clip off, then went after it with a broad panel tool. Popped right off.

Maybe I need a thinner flat head before I try that again, it did a good job of chewing up the plastic ***128529;

I got everything off I wanted finally and dipped my pieces last night, turns out I just needed some man strength from my boyfriend to get out the plastic piece that goes around the shifter, after he cracked it loose I got the rest off no problem.
Still waiting for my long silver trim pieces to be hydro printed, but I plasti dipped the silver piece around the shifter and the silver parts on the actual shifter. YouTube helped immensely haha. |

Whaaat. How do you take off the shift knob? Damn, I was so close this weekend and I couldn't figure out the shifter. Figure I would ask before breaking something.

For CVT knob...please dont twist..u gonna break it :P...the knob is held in place by a metal clip 1. the chrome (bottom) of the shift knob can be pulled down to gain access to the clip 2. use fingers and/or flat head screw driver to carefully squeeze and pull out the pin 3. the shift knob should pull straight out at this point 4. reverse steps for re-install (just make sure u slide in chrome piece in before putting in the entire shifter knob and pin) |
