Default Wind noise

hi guys, i get some windnoise from the driver side window (front) when I shut the door and start to drive. if I roll it down a tad and roll it back up, the noise is usually gone. any ideas how to fix this? not sure where the air is leaking from.

it's not leaking water, so that's good.

Hey, I've got the same thing. I'm a little dissappointed since this didn't occur on my last car, also with frameless windows, until ~120K miles (and it started happening on my WRX at about 15K miles!). Any opinions on fixes would be much appreciated. Thanks,

brian

Unhappy yep

welcome to the joys of frameless windows.
same as the first generation neons.
plus the windows are not very thick (to keep the weight down) does not help the problem.
all i could think to suggest is keep the rubber trim from drying, cracking and shrinking.
otherwise try replacing the trim.

Default Possible Solution

I had the same problem, and some knowledgeable person on the board suggest that I, from the outside of the car, grab ahold of the driver's side rear-view mirror and >>gently<< pull straight upward. I guess what this does is create a better seal between the sealant material that is around the window and body frame.

As of now, I don't have the wind noise unless I role down my window--then the noise comes back. However, I can get rid of the noise again by rolling up my window and then opening and closing my door.

Pretty annoying, but it has become an idiosyncracy of the car

Hope this helps,

Viv

There are several easy fixes for that problem.

1. Try loosening the door latch anchor (on the pillar) and tapping it in slightly with a hammer and retightening it. I have fixed many that way.

2.Remove the door panel and adjust the window in with the adjusters

3.Take it to the dealer if under warranty.

Default Driver's Window

I experienced this same thing over the weekend. I thought my door wasn't shut all the way as the wind sound very audible. Then just today I noticed that the rubber seal on the very top was starting to droop a little bit in the center. I simply wedged it back up where it needed to be and now everythings fine.

If it comes down again then I'll gripe about it to the dealer.

I have the same problem with my wondow as well. then black sticky stuff was being smeared over the very front of the wondow. a few days later the window slowed down and then a peice of rubber rolled up with the window. i pulled the door panel off and didn't see anything i could fix, but the window seemed to be rolling up and comming too far over.
Doh! this is the 3rd post today starting with "I have that same problem.."
