1994 Ford Escort Station Wagon then "upgraded" after the transmission went to a 1999 Saturn SL1. Had NO power windows, no power steering, actually no power anything, just A/C, came with no radio, burned oil like crazy, reverse gear was jacked up and the worst of all ONLY 115HP .

I should have bought that '87 rx-7 13b turbo or 99 impreza rs instead but noooooooo mom had to listen to some old geezer who went around plugging mufflers to see if the car was any good...

but i am much happier now since i bought 09 wrx out of my pocket

A 1984 Datsun B510 I bought while living in the Virgin Islands for $700. Holes in the floor board, a 2 x 4 holding up the passenger seat, a wheel that hada serious clank and when I went to change the oil and put new break pads on it lost all compression and died. I guess it liked that milky oil, must have been holding the inards together. That car was awesome, especially when I did a 50/50 grind down the guardrail on the way home from the restaurant one night. Good times.

Trying to decide which was worse...

the 83 Volvo DL mustard yellow, manual EVERYTHING with 1 working but blown speaker

OR

the 86 Chevy Caprice Classic Station Wagon (yes, the WOODY wagon!!!) with the 305 V8 that used to die out in the middle of the expressway or anywhere for that matter. (did good burn outs though ; )

OR

the 89 Honda Accord, back when they were still carburated. The car would not like to start cold so I took a choke cable and handle off a lawn mower and bolted the handle next to the shifter handle and hooked the cable up to the choke on the carb. I could then start the car and when it warmed up, i just moved the lever to "RUN" LOL. Paid $350 for this car!

My first was the worst. 88 chevy s-10. It had the 2.5 izuzu motor. The motor was to small to do anything with. It could barely carry anything in the back let alone tow a small trailer. The best part, horrible mpg. estimated it to be around 8 to 12 miles to the gallon.
Drag raced it against my friends 76 supper beetle. lost. To ad insult to injury, I let my mom sell it for me. I was living in another state at the time. She managed to get less for it than a salvage yard would have payed. She had been a car salesman, by the way.

2000 VW Jetta.

Everything plastic broke. Everything electric failed. Everything glass goes down, but not up. Alarm going off randomly. Dealership unable to repair alarm problem. Drank oil to the tune of 1L every other tank.

LEMON.

Not a Lemon, it's a VW.

Everything you just described about your Jetta is exactly the same as my buddies car. He had a 96 though. Worse car vote for me.

My 02 WRX....

Nothing like being thousands of dollars in debt with a car that should have been scrap metal.

My first car was an 85 civic, just like this one. Talk about basic! I loved it to death though.

I can't believe you just gave that car away. I wish I would have known you when you had, I would have given you what its worth.

97 hyundai accent,
tore the flex pipe out from under the oil pan ran and open manifold for ~6 months till i got rid of it. ( i got 5 more mpg from that too )

the valves rattled like no tomorrow,

tires were bald and would go flat,

the ectrical system was shot, going down hill on the interstate the line from the altenator to the battery would short out

the heater fan didn't work,

the entire clear coat was cracking

it blew pine needles from the vents over the entire two years that i owned it, i never parked under a pine tree.

it had diamond hard pine tree sap on the roof that i couldn't get rid of

there was something that looked like a blood stain from someone being stabbed on the headliner

the rear antisway bar was useless i noticed no difference in body roll from when it was hooked up and when it wasn't

when i bought it the oil looked like it had never been changed the filter was rusty and dented

you could scrape sludge out from the valve cover

the mount for the alternator was loose, you could move the altenator ~10 degrees (temp fixed with jb weld)

the oil pan rusted through and i had to replace the oil pump because the oil return line from the filter cracked due to the alternator issue

got rid of it when the cost for repairs @ the moment would be more that the car was worth by a long shot and got my leggy

all my cars before my dakota
These were the worst.
1) 1985 cadillac coupe deville. 4.1 HT motor (hand tight) everything pertaining to the brake system was brand new. Still managed to lock up the tires ,while moving 4 mph, more than 50 feet into a ford tarus.

2)1995 Passat VR6. Every seal leaked. car had 226k when I sold it. Blown headgasket, waterpump, radiator, frozen real calipers. Smelt bad, steering wheel and shift knob melted if it got wet . Catylitc converter rotted out, outside door handles didnt work (hold the key to the unlock posistion and all the windows roll down, climb into car thru window. did this for over a year) ran great most of the time though, even if it did take 30 seconds of cranking to start.

3)1998 Jetta. 2.0 bought car not running. seemed to be a fuel issue (sat for more than 2 years.) got running, misfire cyl #4. compression low. pull everything apart. (was planning a BBM supercharger build) where subframe bolts to car rotted out horribally after sitting for a year, more rot everywhere else. lesson learned. No more VW's

It's a car I tried to avoid taking pictures of... but it snuck in to this shot behind my little brother...

1996 Mercury Mystique:

I ended up wrecking it because I e-braked into a parking lot covered in ice one winter. It still ran, but looked twice as bad... if that's even possible.

I can't say much though because the first car I ever owned was a 1966 Mustang I restored. It was never completed, though. (I couldn't afford it ). It's currently in storage back in PA.

PS, the paint is nice, that's just dew from the morning on it.

1993 Subaru Impreza L. 1.8L of fury that felt like far less than 110hp due to the AWD. The RS wheels I put on it (relatively light weight for stock wheels) were the last nail in the coffin for the clutch. Rear quarters rusted out. Had to switch between AC and heat by popping the HVAC panel off and manually moving the dial w/ needlenose pliars. Oh yeah, it was purple too. In all honesty, it was a good first car. It took a beating like a champ and served my family for 8 years before the 2nd timing belt broke and we parted ways. (It had many, many more problems by this time, so we didn't bother fixing it.)

It's the worst because the weather is never perfect enough to drive it.

Seriously though, for me it was a 2002 Volkswagen Jetta 1.8T
Two ignition coils blew out
Then the other two AFTER we fixed the first two
The transmission was slowly killing itself
The sunroof switch was busted (apparently that is a $1,400 fix too)
All at less than 65,000 miles

The CEL went off miraculously for the transmission and we sold the s*** that day

A hand me down 89 Accord sedan from my aunt. She was getting a new camry and the accord was worthless as a trade in. Still in great shape considering it had like 198k on the clock, just getting broken in. With 87hp from the factory the 1.? liter carburetor powered me up the on ramp before class started most times. This thing was top of the line- power windows, am/fm cassette.Other than being slower than a visit to the DMV, it was a wonderful car. Never had a single mechanical fault other than bulbs, etc. Then one night, some kid decides he can run the stop sign to merge across my lane before I plow into his door at 40mph.He was wrong. And that's the end'a that chapter. *swings scarf around neck*

1989 Chevy sprint. I paid $300 for it, drove it for 4 months and sold it for $300. I didi have a 1992 Geo Metro though and it was actually pretty awesome for a econo car.

It was a fun car, but for $800 it leaked just about everything, and made plenty of weird sounds. I'm sure a nice one would be much better though.

I used to drive this tank:

1989 Ford Crown Victoria P72 Police Package. Equipped with Ford's mighty 5.8L 351ci Windsor w/ their Variable Venturi carburetor (worst two-barrel ever) which produced a ground-pounding 180hp and 295 ft.-lbs. This power was transferred through Ford's AOD 3-speed automatic w/ overdrive (which forced an upshift at 4500 RPM and constantly slid in and out of OD). I picked it up as a bargain for $1000. It also had two blue vinyl bench seats, front and rear. At purchase, it had just over 163k on the clock.

On the trip back from Mentor, Ohio, the battery managed to ground out against the frame, which began a whole slew of problems. Besides normal old Ford stuff like hood releases not working and sticky starter solenoids, I found out after its first oil change that it sported a cracked lifter. I replaced the coil, distributor and had to fish the broken distributor gear out of the block the following week. Afterward, the cat blew out, so I put straight duals on it. I then replaced all four bald, mismatched tires and an external transmission fluid cooler hose that decided to shred itself. Later, I found that the battery was undersized for the car's electrical system. Once I replaced that, things started working like the horn and the spotlight (very useful by the way). After about a year of an averaged 9-10 MPG city and 17-18 highway (It had a 2.73 rear gear) and randomly stalling out while moving, the brake lines finally blew out at 184k, so I junked it.

Although, I will say when I was in a band it had a certain "Blues Brothers" nature about it. Major cool points. Plus, we could fit all four of us plus all our instruments in the car at once. It was also surprisingly good in the snow.
