![]() well, i didn't even know what halo's were until last week. i saw a pic of them on a green WRX. well, i liked them. sooooooo... i made them! let me start by saying that these are a PITA to make and install. they look good though. i'll post more pics in the daytime or evening when you can see them better. what you all think?
(i'm sure this will be called rice sooner or later... but then again, so is everything it seems!) ![]() ![]()

![]() Those look freak'n awesome.
Okay, so you'll have to tell us: - what you used (hexagonal v round plexy)? - make little slits or ribs? - what is your light source (LED, color, voltage, etc)? - how did you splice this in electrically (slaved of of driving lights)? Yeah, day time shots would be really nice. Thanks... and again, those look excellent, not rice man. |

![]() thanx! i just checked back and saw that you all posted. didn't mean to be a jerk
![]() -definatly hex shaped rods. you can get them at wal-mart, lowes, etc. -made little slits. i tried a few different ways, but light, little slits worked the best. -3.6 volt white LED's from radio shack. also put a 220 ohm resistor inline with the positive lead. -i used the DRL lamps on the morette's. the little bulb that is in the high beam housing. made my own little plug out of a piece of the mini-blind wand. i like the way they look too. i also agree that the HID look is kinda off with the regular lowbeam color. i guess it gives me a reason to switch to HID's in the low beams! thanx again! |

![]() here's a pic of the test rod.
![]() From right to left: -small little vertical slits -small X's -medium/deep slits -light diagonal slits this pic is with a normal flashlight. you can see how quickly the light degrades, so LED's were a must. i chose the light slits, placed decently apart. about 4mm. the light also will not degrade as quick with light slits. i tried a couple other rods, and the deep slits block too much light from going from one slit to the next. i like the X's, but decided not to go with it. |

![]() how did you manage to get your morettes apart? I've heard that the silicone or whatever they used to seal the housing in is really tricky to work with and it's easy to mess up your lights. I've been wanting to do this for a while now but i'm just scared. Did you oven bake your headlights? How long did you put them in there and at what temperature? What were some of the major issues/hangups you encountered? Any pointers? Any and all information would be extremely appreciated. Awesome job!

![]() i used a heat gun, and a flat tip screwdriver. heated the housing up, and started prying. make sure you DON'T try to bend the 4 little clips that help hold the housing!!! they WILL break. i broke 2 right off. just pry around the whole thing, and when you've gone all the way around it, pry the housing NEXT to the clips. then they will come off. it's no joke. it is a SERIOUS PITA to take them apart.

![]() morettes rule... <--- matter of personal taste, as is everything else.
I saw a member on the boards that put DIY angel eyes into his stock headlight housings and IMHO it didn't compliment the look at all. Looked very incongruous with the whole headlight. There was too much open space around the ring, not like the isolated orbs of the morettes. |
