I vote option C. I plan to do almost the exact same lighting overhaul in the spring, so I'd be interested in your impressions on those products!

I leaning towards option C as well. Seems like I can get more done for the same amount as the other options.

Whatever involves tint is my vote. I think the car needs it badly with the dark wheels.

Go for C. The Subispeed tail lights look like like a cheap early 2000s style housing and ruin every car I've seen them on. As an alternative, they did make the sequential tail light upgrade which retains the OEM housing and requires a fair amount of work, but looks way nicer and OEM+ in comparison.

The car does need tint. I can agree there. Maybe I'll do the tint S4 DRL's and smoked turn signals

Yeah, I am not 100% sold on the tails. The be honest, the only thing I like about them is the running lights as it looks updated and current. Although I am not a big fan of the sequential signals and after thought of the reverse lights and blinkers.

I saw the new tail modules. They look pretty cool and I really like how the inner housing can be painted black. Looked way better as the red is not so in your face. But again, that is a lot of work and if I wanted them shipped to me complete, we are looking at nearly double the price of the subispeed tails. Might just throw some tint on the clear part again and call it a day.

Yeah it's definitely a lot of work that needs to be put into the modules...which is why throwing some tint on is exactly what I did, the full red looks pretty good.

Option C, but the idea of opening up the headlights terrifies me.

opening up headlights is second nature to me. Done it dozens and dozens of times on previous cars.

Gyeon Mohs was a great coating to work with. I prefer gtechniq Crystal serum light but both are very good. “Ceramic” coatings are the way of the future. Looks great.

Looks amazing! Do you have a coating on the car or are you using Wet Coat as a standalone?

I love gyeon stuff. They have some great products. Mohs is something I plan on picking up at some point. I am slowly converting my arsenal over to gyeon on a few things and so far, I am really liking their stuff.

Nope no coating other than the wet coat. I do have a few layers of collinite 845 on underneath it. I just wanted something quick and easy that I could spray on to keep a good coat on the car. It's amazing how water repels off of this stuff. Drying the car with my blower has never been easier. Awesome stuff.

Interesting. You've taken the same approach I have with 845 + spray sealant, but I've been using Optimum OptiSeal instead of Wet Coat. You're right - the beading is ridiculous, albeit not quite as nice as a true ceramic coating.

I've since transitioned from 845 to Finish Kare 1000P on the recommendation of a professional detailer friend. So far its outshined the 845, but the true test will be its durability through the winter. Applying it is ridiculously easy, even easier than 845 IMO.

I used to use OptiSeal as a drying aid, but haven't recently as I heard that spray sealants (such as the OOS) are designed to bond directly to the clear coat, and have a hard time sticking to waxes. In some cases, the spray sealant can actually dissolve the existing wax. Have you had any issues with this?

I agree but I want to do a full detail on the car to get rid of some minor swirls before I ever do a ceramic coating. I’m too anal to put it on top of paint that isn’t perfect.

845 has worked really well on this color for me. The durability is great and it makes lapis pop like crazy. I’ve been a big fan of p21s for a while, but have since transitioned over to collinite and I prefer the look and durability over it. My only complaint with collinite is how it sweats a day or two after application in the heat. Comes right off, but that’s my only con to it.

I haven’t had any issues so far. Gyeon is pretty user friendly and hard to really do any damage to the paint so I can’t imagine it having an issue with removing the wax. I’ll have to report back in a few months to see how it’s holding up. We are supposed to get some rain tomorrow, so I am excited to see how it repels the water.

I came across these and this may be the perfect solution to my tail light saga. I always found the stock tails to be too red and throws the balance of the car off. These seem to be exactly the look I am after as it tones down the red, gets rid of the clear, and stays with the OEM look. Thoughts?

I think you should get these! They should've came like this from the factory. Reminds me of the cherry red they have for B15 Spec V Sentras. Plus they look better than the Subispeed imo. I just don't care for that jewel look they have on the LEDs.

I agree. The Stock red is too vibrant and looks cheap. The darker cherry red color would suit the car much better. I just need someone to snag my OEM tails and I'll pick these up.

I think you should stop finding parts that I keep deciding I now need for my car...

But seriously, the darker red would look awesome on the LBP. I just put the light smoke overlays on my turn/reverse lights, but the red of the taillight lens still sticks out like a sore thumb. This would solve that problem beautifully!

As others have said, the Subispeed lights are cool but I hate the individual LED look of the turn signals. Not to mention I have yet to talk to someone who hasn't gone through at least a few replacements from them - something about the turn signal harnesses crapping out.

Those look great. I just used a vinyl overlay since the bright chrome looked very cheap.

I had them as well, but took them off about a month or two ago for a different look. I actually have a set in the mail headed my way to go back to the look for a bit.

Decided to change a few minor things up. Went back to the tinted tail look (clear part). Did an all black matte STI trunk badge, and trying out a new side badge to go with the car a bit more. I think it cleaned the car up well and gives everything a more subtle look. I’ll have to get some installed pictures this weekend. This is all I have for now.

Pics of the STI badge? I went gloss black with my WRX badge and I'm on the fence about it. Blends in a little too much with the paint. I wish there was a better option than chrome or black...

I don't have pictures of it on the car since it's in dire need of a wash, but I think it looks good. I don't like flashy or in your face, if you haven't noticed. The red looks good, but there's no other red on the car. I prefer the subtle look in my cars and I felt the black disguises the badging of the car, yet keeps the integrity of what the car is. I have been rocking a black background/red sti badge since I got the car since the stock badge has a chrome background. It looked good, but I wasn't happy with the quality of it. I put a picture of it below.

I know, very overthought process of a simple badge, but I tend to over think the little things and what I have noticed is its the little things that count to me. It is what separates my own car from the next.

I did contemplating a gloss badge as well, but the matte had a certain cleanliness to the look over the car. It does little tad cheaper, for lack of better words. But I found it tends to take abuse a bit better where as a gloss finish can scratch/swirl easier.

Here is a picture of the badge I did get for reference.
