with rain, every race track will show us good race action, despite the F1 don´t race in the rain anymore...I have hope that the successor of Charlie Whiting isn´t as overcautious as Charlie was.

Or how about a banked over-under figure 8 track? For that NASCRAsh spectacle while still allowing the drivers to turn left and right!

Damn, I forgot about the start of the 2019 season. Seems like it will be a repeat of last year in the WDC.

Mick Schumacher to make F1 testing debut for Ferrari in Bahrain

Schumacher to drive Ferrari on April 2, and Alfa Romeo on April 3; Ferrari also confirm test for British youngster Callum Ilott

Mick Schumacher will make his Formula 1 test debut for Ferrari following the Bahrain GP.

Schumacher, the son of seven-time world champion Michael, will drive on both days of 2019's first in-season test - for Ferrari on Tuesday, April 2 and for Alfa Romeo on April 3.

"I am obviously more than excited and would like to thank Ferrari for giving me this opportunity," said Schumacher, who is also making his Formula 2 championship debut in Bahrain.

"I am really looking forward to what I'm sure will be a great experience."

Sebastian Vettel will complete Ferrari's running in the SF90 on the Wednesday.

Having only been signed to the Ferrari driver academy earlier this year, the Sakhir test represents Schumacher's first official F1 outing as he looks to follow in his father's footsteps.

The 20-year-old's legendary father, Michael, is Ferrari's most successful-ever driver, winning five of his seven world championships during a record-breaking decade at Maranello.

Ferrari have also confirmed that British youngster Callum Ilott, who joins Schumacher on the F2 grid, will test for Alfa Romeo at the following in-season event in Barcelona in May.

"We are firm believers in the value of the Ferrari Driver Academy, as a high-level training programme for talented youngsters and the decision to give Charles Leclerc a race seat with our team is proof of that," said Scuderia team chief Mattia Binotto.

"We are therefore very pleased to be able to give Mick and Callum the opportunity to experience driving a Formula 1 car.

"Mick, who joined the FDA in January, and Callum, who has been with us since 2017, are definitely drivers on their way up and I believe that driving the SF90 in an official setting such as the tests in Bahrain and Barcelona can be very useful at this stage in their career."

Schumacher is the reigning European F3 champion, while Ilott finished third in last year's GP3 series.

Default Nice Job

Nice job by Leclerc.

I'm not sure why Vettel burned up a second set of softs in Q2. Obviously he didn't think he was safe, but that cost him in Q3.

I didn't see what happened to Hulkenberg, either. He got slow suddenly.

Leclerc pole time is unreal compared to second spot (let alone to the rest of the field) Vettel at almost .300 slower. Let's see if can translate that into a meaningful race result.

Kimi is doing a great job in the Alfa IMO

Norris is also really impressive so far.

Gasly, not so much. Still early in the season but not looking good for him so far.

Not a good comparison, where Rossi is the most popular rider in the Paddock and still a top podium finisher. A better comparison is Vettel to Lorenzo. Both has low popularly and are no longer a top contenders.

I thought Ferrari reported to Leclerc that the MGU-H failed. He wasn't down a cylinder. He was down the 160hp hybrid system.

Very odd that Renault lost both cars in the same corner on the same lap. Hulk obviously blew an engine. Not sure what happened to Ricciardo as his just seems to have stopped making noise without the plume of smoke. If they have the same failure it was likely the same component from the same production batch with the same fault in them.

Not sure what is up with Haas. Looked good in testing, but failed to carry that into the races. Unfortunate for Grosjean to make contact and cut down a tire, but it happens and tends to happen more when you are stuck back in the pack and all trying to stuff through turn 1 on the start. Sounded like a **** strategy call for Magnussen though. Plan for a 2 stop race and then AFTER making the first stop, and not installing the hard tire that would last 40 laps, decide to make it a 1 stop race and hope for the best.

McLaren is probably better this season having had a reasonable amount of time to pull their heads out of their asses and properly design the chassis to hold the engine. Still questionable durability from the Renault engines, but the chassis looks to be a good one.

Gutted for LeClerc, kid looks promising though.

Renault was very interesting, but Scooby makes a very good point.

Grosjean for the unluckiest dude on the planet.

First F1 race I've watched in quite a long time, that damn Netflix series got me interested again

Renault claims both were a "known" electrical defect they've seen previously in testing but haven't been able to fix. It's possible that Hulk's wasn't the engine blowing, but just seeing the result of a motor that had its ECU suddenly shut off at full tilt. Plenty of reasons to throw a big bang and black smoke out the back from that.

I wonder if it was actually the result of the yellow flag indicator in their computer systems which tripped some sort of fault and shut both of their computers off?

I think the yellow flag indicator on avocado's car was from Hulk's off.
