You didn't get to pick any options? Or colors? Damn, I'd never buy a car without being able to specify the color...

I get the choice of any of the colors including Yellow. I have a couple of weeks to decide the color. By choosing Yellow I'm only choosing the color not any sort of "Limited" package. I don't think I can swallow the color though.

Yeah, I would have them add something about them selling the WRX to you at MSRP, or something like that.

It says they will fill your order from allocation #3 (in Feb.). What happened to 1 and 2? Maybe it will be here in Jan?

Hmmm, that order form looks like a fake, an obvious photochop job! Just kidding! Yellow huh? maybe I'll be getting a new one after all. Nah, just keep my underpowered RS for a while!

Allocation could just be for the calendar year, meaning allocation 1 is in January, 2 in February.

I posted this question earlier, but strangely it disappeared....
Anyways, to those who pre-ordered from irvine subaru or elsewhere, what are your obligations and guarantees. Do you have to pay a deposit/money down. When it comes out, can you finance it or pay cash? Do you have to buy it from them?(what if someone else has it cheaper or sooner) As far as guarantees, is there a ship date that you are guaranteed to get it by(making the contract invalid if you dont receive it by then) and are you guaranteed a specific color. None of these questions I could get answered from the preorder form you had

Kind of hard to sell a car without a vin # isn't it? Is the dealer going to get all the colors and then you pick, wheels options?

hey vladgur,

I just put myself on Irvine Subaru's waiting list. Here's the e-mail that they sent me:

---------
Hi felix this is Desiree from Irvine Subaru. No you will not have to pay a
dealer mark up over MSRP. If you would like to be on the
waiting list I will need the model of WRX sedan or wagon, 5 speed or
automatic and color. The colors are White, silver blue or black, and
a very limited yellow color. I will also need your full name, address and
phone number. The order will begin in the middle of January.
My direct line is 1800-970-5755, I look forward to doing business with you.
Desiree Farey
Irvine Subaru

----------

They didn't ask for a deposit, so I believe one isn't required until you actually place the order.

It appears that list price is still yet to be determined by SOA. Nonetheless, we just received our long-term '02 WRX press car

Thumbs up

Irvine Subaru is good to deal with (i got my '00 RS there). I know it will probably be different with the WRX but i ordered mine and only had to place a small refundable deposit @ the time of order. I asked about their ordering policy & they said they weren't worried about people bailing out of the order because it would simply mean they had another in-demand RS on their lot (they have no problem unloading RS's) in addition to their regular allocation. Even though this was an RS, the new WRX is definately going to be in demand so i don't think they'd mind getting WRX's above their allocation. Plus, they don't do any mark-ups

So Shiv, is it scary fast, does it run better than an oem turbo?

Whatever you do, make sure you don't take it to a track or do any acceleration tests.

Since I have a couple weeks to decide on options and color, prices are not availible.

t-wrx, Impeza Rider, ZeroEffect: the price was negotiated on Nov 28 when I gave them my hold money ($100.) Basically he said that what ever his cost was he'd promise to only add so much. Either way it was under $30k by a bunch. No MSRP avalible.

Keith, vladgur: Yes my $100 is refundable, to a point. It does/did guarantee me a car. The ship date on the reciept is March.

herky: This is a confirmation, next step is options and color, then there is no turning back.

shiv: did you by chance get yellow?
