Maybe it's because I'm always seeing blurry cell phone pics for stuff like this. It's refreshing to see nice, clean, professional looking photos!

Haha. It's going to be a while. I'm waiting on the go-ahead to post anything.

Anyone want to debate/speculate on whether or not it will add any power?

Yeah, that is another thing to consider. I had always thought it didn't really matter, but then I saw this post on IWSTI and it has gotten me thinking. It's a 2010 STI with GTX30R rotated setup on pump gas. If you look at just the 2.6L plots you can see that there were significant gains when comparing the HKS Legamax exhaust vs. no cat back at all. The HKS exhaust is 65mm (~2.5"), so it is probably fairly restrictive (but probably not as restrictive as stock).

Here are the dynos so everyone can see the issue, 91 octane CA, GTX30R:

Just eyeballing the plots, you can see that removing the cat back completely helped the top end out a lot. Basically everything above 4,500rpm's saw pretty decent gains. All the way from ~25WHP up to close to 50WHP at redline. This is an externally gated setup as well.

Code:
RPM HKS No Exhaust Increase
3000 110 110 0
3500 160 160 0
4000 255 270 15
4500 330 355 25
5000 355 380 25
5500 375 405 30
6000 375 410 35
6500 370 415 45
7000 365 415 50
The other thing driving my curiosity is that I recently swapped my stock exhaust for a single exist, and it actually does feel faster. Everyone always says the cat back doesn't matter "much", but it seems that at some power level it does make a measurable difference. I was hoping we could get some more hard data on this, but it's probably not something a lot of the high power guys test out, because they usually have high flow exhausts already.

I'll hopefully be able to post some results from my new setup soon. I have a good baseline to work off of, and the only thing I swapped was the cat back, so it should be a good comparison. I know the butt dyno thinks it's faster, but I am way too skeptical to trust that

That's probably what I would think too, but the butt dyno seems to think it's faster...

Could be due to it being cooler?

Compared to a month ago when it was high 90's to 100F the car is definitely faster (with either exhaust). But over the last couple weeks it had been in the 70's and 80's for highs and 50's and 60's for lows. The car felt faster than the hot days, even still with the stock exhaust. Now that I have the new exhaust it has been similar weather to the last couple weeks and it feels even a hair faster than before. I have prior logs from before I swapped, so I should be able to do a comparison.

I actually did one last night. Around town you really couldn't hear anything much in the video. Just sounded like a quiet exhaust. I did a WOT pull and you just hear EWG. Sounds about the same as before in the video.

I might still post the video(s) after I edit them, but they really don't seem that helpful. Kind of misleading actually. Maybe I need a better microphone for my camera...

LOL, just making sure you're awake. I don't know anything. Therefore, there is nothing to say.

On a totally different note, you would have liked the civic rolling through my neighborhood after dark last night. Looked like two kids up to no good. I think they were both bald. Must have been in a gang.

Because on my Sedan there are cut outs for both left/right.

It would be like trying to do a 2OTL on a Trans-Am without the Firebird Bumper

For ref of course:

^Don't worry everyone. Derek is just my super sexy annoying friend that is always in the garage and he's on the NF team that helps with install and tune.
