Subaru transmission longevity
How many miles would I expect to get from a properly maintained 1999 legacy outback automatic tranny?

completely depends, my 95 legacy had the original trans in there for 238k miles, it was driven by the wife of a certified subaru mechanic for 145k then my mom for 93k miles and then me for a month and the reverse went out... to be fair, i did drive it hard but the car was starting to have issues with reverse when my mom had it so it wasnt just me.
then i replaced it with a 96k mile auto trans out of a impreza, that thing went wonky after about 10k miles when it decided the shift selector was just gonna not work correctly it gave me P 1 1 D 1 2 no Neutral, no Reverse... needless to say the next swap was to manual and im never going back... those trans will almost never explode on you but give it time and you will lose a gear, or the ability to change through them unfortunately... |

FoMoCo, did you do your headlights yourself? They look pretty BA, mine 08 is DGM, and I've been thinking about baking and painting mine. What paint did you use?

Looks good. That center bit looks massive! I'm assuming leather? |

so they just come on when the running lights are on? hmmm does that make them flash when you use your turn signal also? im really wanting to just use them on a separate switch (i already have a second one to use) so i was thinking tap into the other switch for everything except power to the lights so i can just manually turn them on like i do the projector fogs

The corner and turn signal have different wires. The one used is wire that powers the element in the bulb for constant power when switched on. The turn signal wire causes the flashing.

right... duh lol i should have guessed that, the JDM harnesses have an extra wire for the outer fogs that makes them come on when you turn your turn signal on if you want them like that, kinda cool but i think i would like to control mine separately from everything else.. iunno, just me
