I wanna start a fight. I guarantee that a 08+ shortblock with some nice forged pistons will out last any fully built engine, ACL bearings, nice rods, etc etc etc. at 400whp-600whp Last edited by juanmedina; 04-21-2010 at 12:52 PM. |

^ from what I read it was due to environmental impacts of the bearing materials used in the pre nitrated blocks.
Something something stuff is bad for environment, subaru changes bearings, then nitrates crank to work with new bearings. I've searched for a long time before i bough the non-nitrated crank and that's the best explanation I could find. |

11 posts that don't answer nothing, great!
My interest is they are a straight forward swap with everything on the motor brand new. Meaning nothing to break or replace for 100Kkms They are a good price $4K USD brand new! It will Cost me $4K also for just a new short block with recoed heads. So for nothing extra i get a new turbo, Intake, cams, big ports, id almost asume different exhaust and up pipe, new alternator, new PS, New coolant hoses, Vacum hoses. All with 12 months warranty They come with turbo They don't need to be opened or touched! OEM build quality. I wont buy one of these then open it up just to install a crank. I havn't seen a rod fail yet either. Pistons fail over 300whp thats fine i don't plan on that much HP I want this motor to have a fat midrange and be fun to drive! Im not chasing stupid power/ Im not a dyno queen/ I don't relate social status to HP. I will be happy with the setup the vf43 is a good DD turbo. Now you know more about me has anyone installed one? |

i fear those heads are not the same as the ones found on the Impreza STi models. Other than that yes it'll work just fine for a long block swap. A couple of things to look at would be the cam sensors and also AVCS solenoids to make sure they fit with your plugs.

Yeah well last night i printed the USDM sti FSM and the plugs for the cam sensors are the same pin outs and wire colours.
So looking promising until i get the motor out and inspect further |
