What Once was mine...is mine Again
I was the original Owner Of a 2005 STi ..Aspen White/Gold and now I have reacquired it.
So alot of people were asking how I was able to find my 2005 STi that I was the Original owner of. Actually it found me.. The Current owner remembered a post when he bought it that indicated that If I had the means, I would love to buy it back and he reached out to me asking if I would be interested in buying it back.. It has had 4 owners.. me.. a 3 month transitional person that sold it after 3 months after buying it from Subaru of JAX. That person sold it to a friend and he kept the car for 9 years, mainly down in Orlando Fla. That person went thru various stages with it. He sold it to the current owner, Another Friend, but not before asking me if wanted to buy it back, back in 2016.. I couldn't afford at the time as life was going thru a transition for me. Fast forward til now and like I said, the current owner, whose owned it for the last 4 years, reached back out to me to see if I would be interested.. .and here we are . I am beyond stoked to get this thing back in my possession and look forward to keeping it around for the long haul.. A brief pictorial history from Brand new listed below including various Liveries of when I owned it before as well as the current configuration towards the end. It spent life as a Autocross car when I owned it before, but now will be enjoyed just with meets and cruises. It still incorporates many of the Mods I did when I first owned it. -JDM Fogs -JDM Sidemarkers Many other JDM goodies. I have already started accumulating many new parts to get it back into New condition, Including new drip rail moldings, New Belt moldings, New undertray, Intercooler Gasket, New Center Gauge Pod, New Gauges.. and lots of other goodies. Brand New 3 months after I owned..STG 2 Tune Subaru Challenge Swoosh Livery Current.

Gauges are coming together..the Electrical part of the wiring is done. just need to get the sensors going.. Boost is done.. just need to incorporate the Oil pressure and water temp sensors. I can't decide weather to use a sandwich plate or the Oil Pressure galley plug for the sensor... I have both... Opinions???? Water temp will be with the sensor in the upper radiator hose. Defi Style Center pod with Pro-Sport Premium 60mm.. Boost/Oil Pressure/Water Temp.. lite in Amber. Matches the STi Gauge Cluster perfectly.
Cobb AP will be doing the rest of the monitoring. I wish there was a way to transfer the AP/OBDII data to a gauge system.. I have used the Torque App with a Tablet before.. but standalone with a separate Blue tooth OBDII connector...maybe I can find a way to do that. |

That's wild. The fact that it spent it's walkabout outside of the salt belt seems like icing on the cake. Congrats on the new-old car.

On my old car I ran my Defi oil pres sensor on the galley hole, I have heard the sandwich plate adapters are mostly prone to leaking so I would avoid that route if I were you. In my 2020 STI I am using the AP for monitoring and also have gauges via OBD2 on my Kenwood HU using the iDatalink RR2.

"They say" that you can use an OBD splitter cable, if you pull the k-line pin on the line that you use for read-only. I've been meaning to try myself, as I haven't been able to get the AP working with my own datalink, but just haven't gotten around to it.

Hmmm Good Idea.. I have access to a spare plug and maybe a cable.. but then I would have to figure out what I wanted to monitor and see if I could monitor things separate than the AP .. Thanks for the info. |

New Suspension to replace the tired old factory Struts/Springs. nothing fancy.. just needed some adjustment in my life that and I got some new hood Struts..
My JDM Spats are coming along.. I am painting them my self with paint products from Car-Quest... they mix paint to your specifications, in my case 51E ..in a Rattle Can Application. The Spats are coming out Decent.. I give it a B+ on my paint job/skills.. We will see how they look on the car once I am done with them. |

My buddy bought one of these when they first came out. It was an epiphany compared to the Mustangs and Camaros we had been running at HPDEs.
These early cars really set a high bar for future STIs in my mind. I'm still waiting for Subaru to release another one that's so impressive relative to what's out currently. |

What a great story! Love that it is back to it's OEM look as well. It will look stellar with the STi side skirts again.
