Can't you just swap the compressor wheel for the 19T and keep the ported/coated exhaust housing? Since it's new there's no rebuilding involved.

I'd be worried about making sure the balance is correct with the new compressor wheel. No telling if it will be ok at 150,000 RPM unless a professional inspects it.

I meant, still send it in to Blouch to install the wheel and balance it. But if it's new they won't have to do any rebuilding and obviously no need to port the exhaust side. Then you'll have both Monster hot side and 19T wheel.

That was my original plan, but then I had a thought about saving some money. As was suggested/noted earlier, I can sell the Monster and the amount I make off of it would likely cover the cost of putting the 19T into a regular stock turbo. Then my only expense is injectors since I already have a walbro pump. So its up for sale for a week...if no one wants it I'll continue as planned and have a Monster 19T .

Modded stock injectors. Price is right

Pinks should work fine on a 2.0, no clue if the 2.5l would need more. I wouldn't bother with this turbo on a 2.5 though..

According to specs the VF39 should still produce more peak power since it flows more air. Someone posted a plot showing the 19t making more power than a vf39, but I don't entirely believe it. The 19t makes great power numbers, but the VF39 should still be capable of a higher peak number.

The difference is that the 19t on a td04 turbine is going to spool faster and give you a broader range of useful power. If you want more power across more RPM the 19t is the better choice. If you want higher peak numbers go for another vf39.

Check out the first pages. There are some dyno charts on there. Whenever mine comes to fruition there will be dyno charts for sure.

Hmm good point. However its tough to go back to stock lol. I'm going to have to think about this one. Thanks for the input!

I'll place my bet now. All other mods being equal, the VF39 runs away from it at the strip.

I'd agree, but if that's your concern you are in the wrong thread. VF39 is going to be the best bang for the buck on shear acceleration at the strip.

I place more importance on faster spool for more fun on the street. I can't wait until i can afford the 19t and tune. I have spare injectors and a TD04 just waiting to be modded.

I understand the more fun on the street bit, but unless your always just streetlight racing or something, the vf39 would be better IMO. Im always running outa breath at the top of my gears, and there is only so much a td04 can do at speeds over 60mph.

It all depends on what you desire. A turbo with quick response and good low-end torque is going to be better for daily driving in the city or congested expressways. If you drive through open roads and low traffic areas then I'm sure you'd find more enjoyment from the top-end a VF39 provides. If you're going to the drag strip the VF39 is obviously the better choice. If you're going to an autocross or doing a track day at a twisty track the 19T is going to pull better out of the corners and negate any advantage you have with the peak power from the VF39.

I don't understand the confusion on the capabilities of this turbo. The 19T flows 500 CFM @ 2.0 PR. (inlet temp 20 degrees C).

This is essentially a 16G worth of flow. The problem lies in the small TD04 hotside. This can be alleviated by a good port job and EWG, no clipping neccesary (good thing too).

metric units http://www.stealth316.com/images/td04h-19t-raw.gif

Standard units http://www.stealth316.com/images/td04h-19t-cfm.gif

I wouldn't be surprised to see someone hit darn near 300whp on 93 oct +meth on a really agressive tune. I just think everyone underestimates its potential and would rather just slap on a 16G/VFseries and be done with it.

If i were ever to upgrade turbos on my 2.0L, this would be the route i would go hands down.

^^I've looked at the graphs before and done my homework too. Those graphs are a great help! Unfortunately, though, neither link worked for me.

I'm not planning on running an aggressive enough tune, but its nice to know that capabilities should theoretically be there.

Edit - If you search for turbo help threads, you can do all the math to determine how much boost you make at which rpm, and can basically chart how the engine should operate with the turbo. You can also theoretically determine your horespower ratings. Keep in mind though, that there are variables that can't be 100% accurate (such as VE). Search for the "13T compressor charts" and "reading compressor charts" if you're interested.

Default im going next wed

so ill keep you posted.i have cut many 1.7 60ft times last time out with a small 16g.so my time should be a good estimate of what this thing can do at the track.

Default disappointed but ill try again in april

the track was so wet tonight it opened at 5 but we couldnt race until 730.
even when i had bald tires i had more traction cutting a 1.8 60ft.with new tires i cut 1.7 all day long.tonight 2.6 60ft all night.i just sat on the line doing 4 wd burnouts.even without a launch once my mbc hit i span the tires.best i could manage was a 14.1 at a little over 100 mph with the 2.6 60ft.id like to thank the guy with the mop who sopped up water for me at the starting line.this is by no means what this turbo can do .

So what are you thinking the turbo is capable of? What were you running for boost?

20psi.spiking to 22 because it was cold out.i dont know what itll run for sure as i dont have any reference.ill be going back again next week.its burning me up not knowing what it will run.
if every tenth in the 60ft equals two tenths on the et.then the guesstimate mid 12s.car pulls strong real from beginning to end .i wont know for sure till i run it on a good night.car hooked better on the street than at the track go figure.
because of the power the car makes down low and the loss of traction.i felt like i was driving a mustang.

Man, this thread is great. This turbo is a pretty compelling upgrade. I was thinking I would need to spend a lot more cash but if i can just buy this turbo plus my current mods:

PDE DP
Turbo XS UP
K&N Filter
Opensource Tune

...do you guys think I would be golden or do i need the Pinks and the upgraded BCS? Obviously I would get re-tuned after the install.

I'm not looking for huge power moreso an upgrade for the street and auto-x...I hate having to deal with turbo lag and if this thing spools like others have posted...damn this might be the ticket.

You'll need pinks or equivalent. This turbo has the flow potential of a small 16G. You'll want an upgraded BCS too for optimal spool up.

If i was upgrading on this turbo, i would send it in, and have the turbine ported (not clipped) with respect to blocking off the IWG and running EWG, then i would do pnpnc stock exhaust manifold with a 3-port BCS all on E85. Talk about quick spool up....

Yeah definetly go with sti pinks/550cc+ injectors or just mod your stock injectors. Also you should get an upgraded fuel pump. For maximum spool, you could do tgv delete and turbo inlet while you send in your turbo. I'd definetly do ebcs since you're gonna tune anyways. Maybe consider going with sti tmic or something similar since 19t has the flow potential of a small 16g.

Thanks to both of you. I admit I only read Page 1 and from what I was seeing I didn't see anyone mentioning an upgrade to their fuel pumps but it made sense given that all other turbo upgrades need that. So here's my shopping list:

UP - Done
DP - Done
Filter - Done
Blouch 19T with PNP
STi Pinks or mod stocks, whichever is cheaper
Walbro FP
BCS (which one is good/appropriate for this build?)

Trying to keep costs down and also noise down which Is why I need to stick to IWG vs. EWG.
