I don't think it's hard on the car at all... (just the normal wear of shutting the car off, and starting it again) it's more embarassing than anything else.
just as long as you don't stall it by side steping the clutch... that can be a bit hard on things. |

It depends on how you stall the car.
1) If you stall the car by misusing the clutch, but you step on the clutch when you notice that the car is about to stall, then no harm done. Clutch is disengaged and the engine can stall or run freely. 2) If you stall the car and you don't step on the clutch, then it's a little harder on the drivetrain. The sudden stop of the engine (caused by stopped wheels) can cause a little wear on various bearings. But, nothing serious. |

We all stall. I've been driving for close to 20 years and have stalled my WRX more than once If you can get the clutch in... fine... if not, typically you're going slow enough it's not going to make a difference.

Don't try everything you read about. Not unless you want some big repair bills. The guys dropping clutches and talking about burning smells coming from their clutches either pay a lot in repairs, will pay a lot in repairs, or hope to be off-lease before anything major crumbles.
If you want a reasonably quick lauch, release the clutch in a smooth motion as you apply enough gas to keep the rpm at the same or higher level. Clutch comes up, gas downs down. |
