Question Swap?

I'm new and can't start a thread so I'm hoping this is the right place.

So I just bought an '03 Baja with 253k. I want to swap the engine to a EJ255 or another turbo engine.

From my research I know that it should basically "bolt in"(with a new crossmember), the wiring should more or less work, and it should overall be relatively simple.
So here are my questions:

Should I get a JDM?
If I get a JDM engine, do I need a JDM ECU or will a USDM ECU work?
How well will the swap work?
Will the original transmission/driveline hold up?
How much harder/more complicated would it be compared to replacing it with an identical engine?
How much can I do myself? (I'm mechanically inclined and have good knowledge of engines. as well as having some experienced friends that may be able to help)
Will I need to make supporting mods?

That's all I can think of at the moment, sorry if it's too much.

Well, pretty much no. There is a LOT more involved in a naturally aspirated to turbo conversion. Your best bet would be finding the bulkhead harness out of a turbo baja. Then the journey begins. Turbo subframes, everything turbo cars had that NA didnít. Ecu and wiring is your biggest hurdle. If you can find an 03 turbo baja bulk harness and ecu, it should be pretty much plug and play to the rest of the cars harness. But youíll need to take the dash out of the car and everything. Itís not as simple as splicing a wiring or two. Weíre talking a whole new chassis harness.

Yeah, that makes sense. So I guess the best thing would be to look for a donor car?
Or would iwire be a good option?
