A friend of mine asked me why would I buy a WRX when I am a father and have two young kids? I'm not in high school anymore and should have bought a car like his (new Lexus hybrid). I said two reasons: 1. don't want to drop $45+ on a car and 2. I may not be in high school but I'm not an old man either.

you want to trade up? spoken by a subaru car salesman at the dealer. Replied no thanks (but thinking why trade my paid off, highly modified to my wishes and better than oem spec car for a lesser car i'd pay monthly to drive).

hilarious question.

Talking to the neighbors about picking up the new family car (Toyota Sienna), they point at my WRX and say, "And that's your gas milage car.".

Maybe he was thinking out loud hoping and praying that you would ask him that very question so he would be able to go to his children and tell him the story of how he managed to get the best used suby sell ever.

Why would you put an autozone muffler on a station wagon?...

Not so much of a phrase or question, but me and this guy in a van was at a red light; me turning left. The light turn green for him and he missed it staring at my car.
he had a passenger too and he was busy starring at my car to tell the driver anything.
