Default 2016 Impreza brake switch recall

Subaru just sent me a brake switch recall extension letter and at just the time I am having trouble getting the key out after turning off the engine... the Subaru dealer replaced the switch again today after doing it in 2019 ... so just be aware that those switches can fail again and again ....

Sure they do. There were 3 different revisions to that brake switch. None were very reliable. They are made by Nissan.

As far as your key not coming out of the ignition when turned off - if the car has a CVT transmission that issue is more likely caused by the park switch in the gearshifter. This is a switch that is on the shifter in the console. They were a little more reliable than brake switches, but not much more...

Thanks for the info. I took it to Subaru and they did replace the switch again... I guess when the extended warranty expires for that switch I will get to have them replace it at the cost of $250, which is what the dealer billed Subaru for...
