I am a little lost at what years are compatible with what years when I am performing some forum research. Since the current generation of WRXs/STIs are 2015+, does that mean anything rated for a 2015 model will also work on a 2017? Is this thread applicable to my 2017 WRX?

Because it's a different year and we're asking if what has been suggested for 2015 models is applicable to the 2017 models (since this thread is labeled 2015 and a lot of products on the market show 2015-2017). If so, awesome; if not, what are those differences I should make note of?

I think the main differences are...
- Different SatNav\Infotainment. The unit in my 15 STi isn't even what the update software has listed for the 15 STi. Its a unit listed for the "Impreza Turbo". - 15's don't blindsport\rear cross traffic alert |

What's up subie fam. I haven't really post since I bought my 16 STI close to a year ago. Love her. I'm still getting used to this forum so if not the right place to ask I apologize ahead of time
Recently bought stage 2 mods for the STI off my buddy. Cobb AP Invidia q300 Cobb DP Only installed the AP for now so running stage 1 on 93 oct. I was gonna buy an intake but from what I was reading here it's not beneficial and even potentially damaging when running a stage 2 map? Also the sound system in this thing is a joke but w.e. I heard changing the head unit alone would make hella difference. |

OEM Intake is OK for the basic mods that you listed, IMO
Don't be surprised if you hear otherwise from others as this is a common "on the fence" topic regarding the OEM intake. Again, for the mods you listed you should be fine with a good Pro Tune since you have an AP already. If running OTS map Stage 2, you will also hear Yay or Nay regarding adding an intake or not. Cobb seems to be Yay (it is their Map) but I have seen threads in the past of actual real world complaints that not much is gained and may cause issues. Read up and safe modding. As always, pick a good tuner and head his advise when modding. Quote:

Worth the trip is you ask me (says the guy who travels from NC to NJ for his shop) But I have heard good things from the guys in Precision as well. Still a good shop. #rockout |

They changed the head unit in 2016 so I'm fairly sure this secret menu only works on 2015's without nav only (a clarion-built unit).

And YES replace the head unit asap, it makes a big diff in sound since the amp on an aftermarket unit sounds much cleaner. I have a Pioneer 4200-NEX on mine and the stock speakers sound good enough for me. The factory unit is just hilariously bad. |

Does anyone know if it's possible to mod the small screen on the 15+? Maybe with one of the phone apps that read the obd2 data?

Does anyone have the specification on the 2016/2017 WRX Premium and Limited wheels? Subaru's website lists them as 18x8.5, but doesn't list offset. I am wondering if they have the same ET55 as the STI wheel upgrade?

Tech Help
Hey Subie fam,
I finally got a chance to take my STi to the track yesterday. After about 3 to 4 laps, at WOT in 4th I started to get fuel cut off. I checked my AP and the stock boost gauge and noticed overboost with the stock boost gauge reading 24psi. Target boost pressures on the tune were 19.5psi in S#. 2016 STi Engine mods are as follows: Cobb AP Cobb SF Intake and Box Nameless Performance Turboback exhaust - thermal wrapped Grimmspeed EBCS NGK Iridium One Step Colder Spark Plugs Cobb Flex Fuel Kit 1100cc FIC Injectors AEM Fuel Pump IAG AOS Protuned on e85 I did data log the runs I just need to upload them to see what's going on. Can anybody help point me in the right direction about what could be failing? I was thinking maybe having to change my turbo inlet piping and intercooler piping so that I'm not running crazy A/F ratios. Any other ideas would be a ton of help! |

I have a question. I know that you can't run staggered wheels on awd, but would it be bad say if I was running 18x8 and 18x9 both +35 (on a 2001 Forester L) and use 225/40 r18? The amount of tire that would contact the ground the same but I just want to get some insight.

I know this is a 2015 WRX/STI thread, but I have a question regarding 2011-2014. I looked and searched for a general questions thread but I couldn't find one so I'm sorry if this is the wrong place for this question.
I'm looking to get a 2011-2014 WRX or STI sedan in the next month. Does anyone know of any thread, article, or video that explains the driveability differences between WRX and STI? Thanks in advance! |
