You're welcome
You might find that the idle will eventually even itself out. The recall isn't the only thing that causes this. Sometimes after replacing a dead battery or resetting the ECM after a check engine light will cause the same condition. It should go away on it's own once the ECM relearns the idle. However, cleaning the throttle body won't hurt at all and will help things along.

Make: 2005 Outback XT Limited Mileage: 72000 Time Out Of Use: Weeks + Problem And Likely Cause: The car starts, the security light comes on, then dies. ECU code: P1578 (Meter Failure) and BIU code: B0403 E/G request NG. Modifications: STI intercooler, STI turbo, ECM Reprograming. Submitted For Warranty Work (Yes/No): No. Reason Given For Denial: Mods to engine and ECU. Your Story: First dealership diag and found bad BIU (Body Integrated Unit), replaced. No change. Further in diag chart called for replacing the Meter (Gauges), replaced and no change. Our dealership diag chart calls for replacing the ECM. Replaced and no change. Dealer called Subaru TechLine and they recomended replacing keys, did no change. Next step replacing Main Wiring Harness, replaced and no change. On a whim replaced the starter switch and immobilizer antenna and no change. 2 Senior Master techs and Subaru TechLine are stumped. Any help would be great to: [email protected] Either this car is cursed or ... no its cursed. No fix at this point. Update: Always check all the grounds on the engine, by chance found the rear lower engine grounds loose. Problem solved this time. Last edited by Rally_MattChase; 08-26-2011 at 12:42 AM. |

Other than sharing and venting a bit about our personal experiences, do these help SOA get things taken care of?

No. What can happen is those who work in the industry and for Subaru dealers can offer insight to help the poster. Other than that it is a bitch fest most likely with some important info omitted from the post.

Hey guys! My 2014 sti is at the dealer right now and they said I have low compression in cylinder 1. I had an accessport which I unstalled and retrained the ecu afterwards. My car has about 11k miles. They tell me my ecu has 15 starts on it. And I should have about 10 starts on it every 1k miles. They said since I have 15 starts on it that they know I reflashhed my ecu. They haven't denied my warranty claim yet but are pretty set on the fact that I did and I most likely won't get it fixed under warranty.
My question is, does the amount of starts on it really prove anything? When SOA comes and checks my ecu will they see any trace of the AP? I saw another thread where Cobb said they cannot find a trace let alone how many times the car was started. I also read that Cobb wasn't aware of any start counters in subaru vehicles. But that was back in 2011 so I guess it's safe to assume they implemented some sort of counter. Any help is appreciated! |

I'm thinking you mis-understood your dealer, or there was some mis-translation along the chain... Starts don't matter, nor does it even make sense. The flash counter or the checksum are what can be checked, and yours isn't matching to what it should be. Not much you can do, you took the risk when you flashed it.

If SOA wants to see if you flashed your ECU, they can despite what COBB claims(even they can't promise the AP is undetectable). It is not a flash counter or a cheksum per say, but the SSM 3 can run a few tests on the ECU to determine if it has been flashed.

Make: 2014 WRX Mileage: 15000 Time Out Of Use: None Problem And Likely Cause: Analog SPT boost gauge is displaying -10 below normal operating range. Under no load with the engine running the gauge is displaying -25 mmhg and under full boost it is only displaying only 10 PSI. The engine still has full power but the gauge is broken. Modifications: Tein coilovers, Kartboy shifter with bushings, front and rear sway bars, rear differential bushing inserts. Submitted For Warranty Work (Yes/No): Yes Reason Given For Denial: Lowered suspension Your Story: At first dealership state that they couldn't figure out which gauge was displaying incorrectly. I explained to them that it was the boost gauge and immediately was told that it has a margin of error. They then said that since I have lowered suspension that it could be causing the issue. I asked them if Subaru of America denied the claim and that said that they don't work under Subaru of America but Subaru of Hawaii. I plan on contacting talking to the Manager and contacting Subaru of America, explaining my situation and providing them with photos. |

Every. Single. Subaru. Dealer. In. America. Answers. To. SOA. Period. They gave you a bull**** excuse to get out of doing the work. I'd go BACK to the dealer and state that if they do not fix this under warranty, that you will be contacting SOA. |

Subaru of Hawaii is its own company. They deal with Subaru of America, however, they have the authority to deny their own warranty: Quote:

So Subaru of Hawaii is a "thing." I contacted SOA and they expressed authentic concern in regards of my situation and told me to take it to an independent mechanic to have the vehicle inspected and if the mechanic states that the vehicle is defective due to no part of my aftermarket parts then SOA will pay for the vehicle to be repaired at no cost. |
