No. I wouldn't buy a BDP-1500 at that price, even if it wasn't a refurb.

Probably, if you don't care about the fancy sound decoding that the higher end models do...

No, not a good deal. There were better deals recently, basically giving away the player free with movies.

Wrong answer.

Only get a PS3 if you want to spend more money than you otherwise need to for a BR player that can also play games. If you just want a standalone player that is smaller, cheaper and can do everything the PS3 does in regards to Bluray then there are a number of other, better options out there (the BD35K is the first that leaps to mind).

How much did that run you?

10 movies and a Monster cable? That could be $500!

bought the movies online and picked them up at the store, about $2-$3 cheaper than the ones they had in store, bought the shorty cable, total I spent $325-$330...

the trick is seeing if you want any 10 out of the 50 they give you to choose from, I did, so it worked. sale was about a month ago, but I bet they'll have it again if they aren't running it now.

I got that same email from TD. Anything they send you in an email about their current "deals" are just the opposite.

The PS3 fanboys are getting to be almost as insufferable as Apple fanboys.

The above message translated into normal speak:

"Hey! If you aren't interested in spending $399 for a console plus $60 per game on a hobby you may not be interested in then you're dumb. I know you never mentioned gaming at all in your original post but I'm going to encourage you to spend more than you need to just so you can get the same bluray experience as you can get for much less in addition to game capabilities that you may not want! Not to mention that the price of my recommendation is over double what you mentioned in your original post! I'm an idiot!"

I personally threw out the PS3 option due to it only having bluetooth remotes. I use one remote for my home theater and having a separate remote for the PS3 seemed retarded. I bought my Panny BD35 last month for $197.

And yes i've heard of IR converters.

I think what you meant to say was Memorex is one of the cheapest. Bang for your buck insinuates that you are getting a good product for a good price
