Sure she's fat, many Americans are. Worse than that, she just talked too damn much.

Is a newsperson on TV that far away from that? I don't think so, and I'm not sure that, even if they are, that translates to a kid saying, "I want to be fat like that anchor lady." However, if one believes that a girl can become bulimic because she wants to be "skinny like that Vogue model," then it probably is reasonable to think another girl may say, "I want to be an anchorwoman because I don't have to be fit/skinny/whatever to do that."

There's a valid argument that, regardless of what you do for work, or in what capacity others interact with you, everyone should try to be healthy and good to their bodies, as an example for others. I know that part of my motivation is for my kids to see their dad taking good care of himself, just like my dad did (about to turn 70, still plays golf and tennis year-round, and goes about 5'9", 150). Now, my kids have lots of other scopes through which they view me, that's just one, but I still think it's important.
I loathe that our society puts so much importance on 'famous' people. Almost all of these people should not be role-models...besides what we see is pretty much nothing like who they actually are. Teachers should be role models and I don't know many ultra fit teachers (in fact if I think about it, almost everyone I know who is a teacher is either over weight or not in 'top' shape)...but does this mean they still can't be a positive role model. Yes people should be healthy, but at the same time we try to teach our kids that looks shouldn't be the most important thing. No wonder kids are so ****ed up, they get so many mixed messages...

Fair point...people should be whatever the **** they want to be. Fat, bald and stupid is apparently a way to go through life since millions of people do it that way everyday and this is their choice...

Well, unhealthy people do cost governments lots of money. So there is some sort of responsibility there.

How is being bald a poor life choice?

That would entirely depend on whether I actively tried to impose my beliefs on others.

I leave that up to the religious folk.

Here you implied what she ought to do, you assigned a value. That responsibility to others carried a higher value than self pleasure.

so in a way... whether or not you impose your belief on others you claim to know what someone ought to do. therefore you are making a moral statement of value.

just like religious people do.

You called me the moral police. I am not, and do not police anything.

I am not denying my views on the issue.

Guess what? It's not the only situation where I know what people ought to be doing
