body panel help
I went camping and did some mild off roading. I went over a bush and now I have this scrape that goes from my front tire to to back tire on the plastic molding on the bottom side. It's really mild, but still noticible. I have no I idea what I can use to get rid of this scrape. I guess I could go and buy those two panels, but I am positive that they are not cheap. It doesn't look bad but like I said before, they are still there. Does anyone know of any product or treatment I can preform to smooth out the scrape. It almost looks like when you scrape the bottom of a snowboard/ski with something wide(not a gash). I was thinking just pouring some of that ski wax and taking off the excess But seriously, there has to be something I can put on there and smooth out the stuff. Any help or suggestions is cool. Thanx

L or S?
Subro,
Is yours an L or an S? If an L, it will be easier to buff out any scratches of the unpainted cladding. I've had some success using the Novus plastic polishing system. Novus uses a 3-step process using progressively finer polishes (abrasvies: Novus 3 > Novus 2 > Novus 1). Novus 1 is a very fine polish and cleaner which works well on Lexan and the like. Novus 2 and 3 leave behind residues after buffing that can be removed with Novus 1 and/or an old toothbrush from textured cladding. I've used Novus 2 and 3 to remove and/or minimize the appearance of scratches in my cargo bay and on the lower interior door panels with good success. If your scratches are more than a few mm deep, the Novus system will not remove them completely, but it may smooth them out a bit. I don't know if Novus has a website or what national chains carry it; I bought mine at a local Harley-Davidson dealership (no, I don't own one, nor do I aspire to). If (like me) you have an S, things will be more difficult, and may involve repainting. I have a 5-6" bare spot along the rear bumper from a teeny little parking lot swipe that I'm in a quandary over: too big to buff out or touch up, but worth it to repaint? Good luck - hope this helps.
