Default Crank sprocket is damaged. Please help.

I have an 03 WRX Bugeye swapped with an ej207. Everything has been running fine with no issues. Last night I drove to my gfs house to pick her up after work. Everything was fine. I got there ate and when we were leaving when I turned on my car I started to hear a loud weird noise. I popped the hood and it seemed like the noise was coming from inside the timing belt case. It sounded really bad so I turned the car off and had it towed home.

Today I took took some things off to take a look inside the timing belt case. I found that my crank sprocket was ground down. From what I can see, all the teeth were gone. And there was metal shaving inside the case. The belt is in good condition and so are the bearings and idlers.

Iím very confused. I tried doing some research and couldnít find anything. Maybe Iím not looking for the right things but Iím by no means a mechanic. Iím 21 and have a general understanding about cars but this is out of my scope.

Now that Iíve had some time to think about anything that stood out in the recent pass Iíve remembered a few things. I would sometimes get a rough idle, I would be at a stop in neutral and suddenly the car would start idling 500rpms higher. But it would go away. I had a CEL come up about a month ago for the crankshaft position sensor. I cleaned it and made sure everything checked out and the light went away and didnít come back so I didnít investigate any further then that. I also had to go back to using the 03 WRX ECU until I can find a new ECU bc the ECU that I was using seemed to be failing. It was making the car run weird and I donít want to risk it damaging the engine. This car is not my daily so I only drive it about once a week so it doesnít sit and Iíve never had any problems with if. It gets maintenances properly and periodically so Iím at a loss rn.

I would appreciate if anyone could help me out if yíall have some insight before I decide to take it to a mechanic.

Something is loose and it walked off the shaft and hit some pulleys?

I think some pictures would really help folks see what's going on.

Iíll try and figure out how to put some pictures up.

After doing a bit more looking around I actually discovered that the bolt holding the tensioner pulley completely snapped off. My theory at this point is that the bolt snapping could have possibly caused something to grind against the sprocket? Iím not sure. But now Iím concerned about why that bolt would have snapped in the first place of that is the case.
