So now that's two of us in this thread using pennzoil.

How are you going to come to your final decision?
Pennzoil has always been my go to as well. Itís never let me down. Though as long as you change it regularly, you should be good with most brands.

He was clearly referring to his '69 Chevelle.

If its a stock car who cares. Any oil that meets Subaru's minimum specifications will do.

Brand doesnít matter. If youíre running a GF5 Resource Conserving oil just flip a coin.

YES
the STI has a regular piston engine like the other 90 million cars
and you need synthetic for the turbo, so that covers it

It also doubles as lawn mower oil and works great.

Local Subaru dealership offers Motul Xclean(I believe) 5w-40 as its premium fill.

I'm good with it if they are.

I'm not sure about Sti, but for WRX there are a lot of good oils. I was looking for advice in choosing oil, and found an article of the best oil for subaru wrx https://carfluidsexpert.com/best-oil-for-subaru-wrx/, there is a list of good oils with the full descriptions of each, their characteristics, prices etc. I think it can be helpful for Subaru owners.

I use Castrol Edge 5W-30 Advanced Full Synthetic oil. I have been using this oil since 1,000 miles & currently change the oil every 3,000 miles. Does not burn a drop & I also live in southeast Michigan & currently have 13,500 miles on the car.

I used Castrol Edge 5W-30 for 30k miles and no drop of oil. I do change every 5k miles.
I recently changed to Castrol Edge 5W-40 and feel much better about the oil, as it protects better the engine.

I'm sensing a disturbance in the sarcasm meter with this post.

And that is what makes it so darn good. Every time I fire up my 2020 STI it takes me back 13 years to when I first drove the 2007 STI. It's new old stock!

I would use Eneos Sustina, but my local mechanic uses Motul, so I just go with that =)

C'mon people! Provide more details.

Motul has 6 5W-30's (7 if you include 300V) and 3 5W-40's (+ 2 40 grade 300V's).

Mobil 1 has 7 5W-30's, a 5W-40, 0W-40 and several 10W-30's.

Castrol Edge 5W-40
Stage 3 2019 STI.

Was previously on OEM 5W-30 for about a year and... that thinned out terribly and consumed about 1qt per 5,000km. Never again.

So far really liking the Castrol. Engine runs very smooth and hasn't consumed a drop; but I need to wait a couple more months to know if consumption is truly 0.

Also, got the 5L on sale for $30CAD. Can't beat that. Meets all the specs it needs to. Made in canada, so might be a different version in the states...

I will maybe try Motul Xclean 5W-40 next, but that one is never on sale so like $50CAD for the 5L. Not bad anyways. But also not worth it if Castrol performs. Penzoil Platinum 5W40 also usually on sale, about same price as Castrol.

If on warranty, then probably best to stick to 5W-30... even though it's junk.
