For those interested in ordering the green spring: When I placed my order I assumed it would be shipped from the UK and, as a result, additional customs charges MIGHT be applied to my order. Based on the UPS tracking info I received yesterday, it looks like the part was shipped from Forge's Florida location. I should have the spring by Friday afternoon. Just FYI...

Mine should be here Friday as well. Shipping was 12$ for an 8$ spring so I sure as hell hope it comes from overseas, haha.

That is exactly what I paid for shipping. I bet it comes from Florida like mine. (I just checked my tracking # ; the package is in Missouri now; its about half way here lol)

Nice! I hope I get one as well! It is pretty amusing that the shipping costs more than the product itself.

How is your car running with the green? I just got mine in the mail (no bottle opener though ). I have not thrown mine in yet (I will probably do it tomorrow since its starting to snow like a bi**h here).

Seems to be a little smoother now, give me a few more days to drive it before I really say anything. Could all just be in my head.
Still worth it to me though. |

I just put mine on a few hours ago. The flutter noise is gone, but now it seems like the valve is opening when it shouldnt. I will be in second gear with just a little throttle and I can hear what sounds like the BPV opening. I havent gone WOT yet since our roads are pretty icy. I think I am going to experiment with using the shims to see if I can figure this out. Not sure what exactly is happening at the moment.

I run the yellow spring as well at stage 2 and have no issues. 19 psi and holds great.

Honestly, I think it may just be how I am driving. I've been testing with the green spring for a bit and I believe I may just be letting off the throttle just a tiny bit, causing the BPV to open (even though the RPM's continue to climb). With the green spring, the valve seems to open much easier than with the yellow (which is to be expected). I think what I am doing is easing off the throttle just a tiny bit a few seconds before I shift into the next gear causing the BPV to vent. I was most likely doing the same thing when the yellow spring was installed but due to the heavier spring, the BPV was not venting as easily. I will know for sure tomorrow after doing some additional data logging.

Alright, here is what I found when using the green spring (w/o shims). I was using my Cobb AP to monitor boost pressure during this test. Whenever the AP shows a negative PSI (I assume this represents vacuum) I can hear what sounds like air being vented through the BPV. This only occurs if I am very light on the throttle and allow the RPM's to slowly increase. As soon as the AP reports 0.00 PSI or above, I can hear what sounds like the BPV closing, followed by the turbo begin to spool. I assume this is not what I should be hearing (in terms of performance, the car didn't really feel any better or worse than it did when using the yellow spring). I think the green spring may be just a little too light for my application (switching back to the yellow eliminates this specific noise). I will say the green spring definitely seemed to eliminate the fluttering sound at partial throttle. I am going to try the green spring + 1 shim tomorrow.
EDIT: I forgot to ask, when adding the shims I believe you are supposed to place them at the bottom of the spring correct (i.e. between the spring and the piston)? A few weeks ago I could have sworn I found a thread that answered this question but I can't seem to find it. |

I swapped around many different BPV's and now have a TurboSmart Dual Port 50/50 and the Forge Recirculating BPV. I have been running the green spring in all of the Forge vales. No issues at all. I peak around 27-28psi. I haven't really tested around 0psi like CO11WRX did, but overall I don't see any issues at all. And no flutter on throttle lift.

I picked up some Mobil 1 Synthetic grease today so I can re-lube my Forge. I found some cleaning instructions on Forge's website, but it was for another valve entirely. For those of you that have cleaned/re-lubed your Forge BPV, did you put grease over all of the o-rings or just the piston?

Just clean it well and put some lube on the o-rings and maybe a little on the outside of the piston. You don't need to lube the top or bottom of the piston.

They're just so that you can adjust for tension slightly between the springs. No need to use them.
