Default good shops for safety and emissions & how to make a ej20t run cleaner?

k so ive always had issues with safety and emissions on my cars. looking for a shop that isnt going to hassle me. i want them to do the safety and on the emissions if it passes the test (obd1 - sniffer, obd2 plug in reading) it passes. catless or not. i have a cat now but its wrapped in heat wrap and dont really want to put the stock dp on. so where do you catless guys go?

K so i have a OBD1 car and its a ej20t in it. i need it to run cleaner with out putting all the stock stuff on. it passed everything but the ideal test. it was running rich. how do i fix this? and any tuners out there that want to help me tune it so i pass then tune it back when im done? cause im clueless!

and i did search, but didnt want to page through the bro hooks up. sorry i apologize for my laziness.

thanks,
kyle

Yes, everclear as in the booze... rubbing alcohol will also work. Basically the same thing that is in every "fuel treatment" out there.

The idle screw is the thing that sets how far your throttlebody goes closed when you let off the gas.

Throw in 2 gallons of e85, or use the SAFC to lean it out.

The SAFC would be the easy way to go about it.

If u use e85 dont drive the car hard or it can start knocking

^ I'm going to hopefully figure it out tonight. Im gonna play with it a little. He also said if the car has been sitting and it has been a little so ya =/ ha I'm too lazy to return to stock, I will probably use the safc and the idle screw just to b extra safe? Or is that a bad idea?

Idle screw...dont touch that. Thats a 1/2 *** way of addressing the issue. The SAFC should have enough adjustment in it.

It may be half ass but it gets the job done. And you can set it back easier than fiddleing with a safc. Asuming thers a safc already in the car. If the car runs fine there's no reason to make major changes tuning just for an I'M test

Btw the rich spots at idle that cause you to fail the idle speed test are very small. Take which ever path is easiest for you. Id you do use the idle screw method make sure to mark the position dof the screw with whiteout so you can return it to its original location
