Default Can I put an STi cat-back on my 06 WRX?

Hey All:

Looking for a quiet upgrade to my WRX. Will an STi stock catback bolt up?

Thanks

Steve

AFAIK it will bolt up. But it is not really an upgrade. The pipe diameter is the same. So without a downpipe you will not see any performance increase. even if you were to get a DP and EM it is still no different than the stock exhaust.

I looked into doing this with my wagon. But I abandoned the idea after researching.

Wrong.

The midpipe may be the same diameter, but the axleback portion is 2.5" instead of 2.25".

It's better.

It's only .25" bigger then stock from the axle back. You will see maybe .005 hp gain.

Cool, thanks for the info. But over the stock WRX exhaust, it's still not much of an upgrade is it?

Not at all.

Catbacks generally yeild little to no gains, but pair that 3" catback with a down pipe and you will see gains.

I put one on my 05 wagonf that a buddy of mine gave me, and I mated it to a perrin Down pipe. It is a nice upgrade as it gave it a much better sound but not loud and ricey. Just what I wanted.
