for the walkie/cb setup... the walkies i have... motorola 8miles--- clear communication- NO sub frequencies-- usually have it set to channel 2 or 7.. just LMK. people in the caravan from cheesequake service area will each get one.. i have about 9-10-- people are also encouraged to bring there own!

they do matt... as long as everyone is on the same channel..no sub frequencies involved.. so no 7:13.. more like 7:0 and so forth-.. depending on the range.. we will all be heard.. i was just in a caravan of 30 cars this weekend.. and people usin cbs / better walkies than i / and my motorolas.. worked out real well- plus last yr we didnt even really need it.. both our timings were pretty damn good!

CB's are on a completely different frequency(27MHz "range" or 11 meters) than the walkie talkies that most people were using last year-FRS(Family Radio Service which is at-462-467MHz).

So, no, they are not "compatible". That being said, someone may have had a GMRS radio in their car-but you must get a license to operate on that type of radio. GMRS radios can operate on the FRS radio frequencies typically.

I have an amateur radio(2M) in my car, but I doubt anyone else does, so that's pretty much useless for this meet.

You sure? Hmm well just more for the individual trials while we're cruisin and whatnot, hope it all works, it was real nice being able to communicate during the 48hrs trip. Holler, I'm pumped.

As it stands, I only have a ham radio in my car, so no we wouldn't be able to communicate.
I do have a CB that I could install, but I don't have a reasonable antenna for it(the only CB antennas I have are like 4 foot firesticks or bigger).

I'm actually going to be out at Amateur Radio(well, ARRL) field day on Saturday. If any one wishes to come out and learn what it's all about, we're going to be out in the Belleplain State Forest at the baseball field pavilion, around noonish on Saturday the 27th, and it goes until noonish on the 28th(all night).
