![]() So I drove a 09 265 wrx. I was expecting to be plastered into the seat by the impossible amounts of power, both hands firmly gripping the wheel, white knuckled and scared to death.
Well.. suprisingly, it wasnt any faster than my 08. I had originally bought a xpt stage 1 for my car but since then I have made my own tune once I became familar with ecuflash. Im aware the 09 has better tires and some suspension tweaks, but all that is easily fixed in a 08. I do want the 09 grill though. The stock map in the 08 SUCKS! Do yourself a favour and reflash your 08. The midrange torque is just awesome!

![]() I would rather have a car with a bit more mid/high end power. Damn you, TD04
![]() Let's not forget that an 09 with the same mods as an 08 will still be faster. |

![]() Yeah, my '08 WRX with the Perrin Stage1 reflash, springs, sways, bushings and tires was much quicker than the stock '09 I autocrossed.
I still miss my WRX's power band. The STI isn't nearly as responsive around town with the larger turbo. The '09 WRX has roughly the same powerband as the STI. |

![]() turbo may be down the road for me. now that the turboback is done its cake for a swap. i wanna hold on to any possibility of my warranty for a while yet. the 08s are amazingly better stage 2 than stock though. i cant believe the difference. i would probaly get the vf52 down the road. gotta pay bills first though!! i havent driven an 09 but the numbers seem pretty awesome. im running the perrin stage 2 91 map now. is anyone running the rallitek stage 2 map? how do they compare? just curious. thanks.

![]() DIBS!
I know that the 09 still has the bigger turbo but thats not always better. I have a t3/t4 ball bearing turbo on my mazda and the lag is pretty big even though its ball bearing. Im really liking the INSTANT spool up the wrx gives me. I dont have to rev the car to 4 grand just to spool the turbo. As I drive my 08 I like it more and more. It is better for autocross or maybe even a tarmac rally but if I was big into drag racing then a big turbo would be the way to go. At first I was jealous of the 09's, but once I actually drove one all that changed. I love my 08. Last edited by Franko; 06-14-2009 at 09:46 PM. |

![]() I have a Stage 2 (with supporting mods) on my 08...100% a different car. I actually think the soft springs are hurting its ability to launch like it could. I do want to go VF52 or similar...but in the end I will wait until the warranty goes out. I would really like to be getting those 300 numbers at the wheels...or maybe I won't wait for the warranty...LMAO. ![]() |
