![]() Hey guys,
Just thought that I would introduce myself. I live in Redondo beach (anyone near me?) I am in the process of getting rid of my current car a 2001 Volvo S40 with upgraded ECU, 18" wheels and Full stainless exhaust and it is a totally fricken boring automatic POS. I really want a WRX. Hopefully in the next couple of months. Crazy stuff this will be my 28th car ![]() I have mostly been in to 5.0 mustangs and early Ford Muscle, but absolutely fell in love with the WRX... My last mustang was a Griggs/Maximum Motorsport equiped 500hp+ open track car.. lots of fun but ready for something different. I have read my Corky Bell Book Maximum Boost Cover to cover so many times I cant remember, preparing for my new turboed car. Where do you guys recommend purchasing in SOCAL.. So far, it looks like Im going to buy at Irvine Subaru; they seem very helpfu and its cool to see a dealer so into the aftermarket. Thanks in advance, and I look forward to talking with all of you.. ![]() Sincerely, Johnny in Redondo...

![]() Welcome to the boards ...
Don't forget Tor and Sean over @ Renick Subaru in Fullerton... They got me a great deal!! But I have also dealt several times with Irvine Subaru's service/parts dept., and they are no doubt top notch as well!! The reason I ended up going with Renick is that Irvine Subaru would not remove my wagon rails for fear of warranty issues. So either way, you can't go wrong. |

![]() tknodav,
thanks for the nice welcome and info... I went to Santa Monica and they acted like they didnt really want to sell me a car. They seemed more interested in watching tv than helping me. A dude name Carlos at Irvine was cool as hell. What is a good price to pay for a Sedan? Most of the ones I saw had a wing and the audio for 25k and some change. I didnt like the wing in the past, but I think its growing on me. Oh BTW,,, Im a big Electronica Fan as well. If any of you guys eat drink sleep, Trance music like me, I would love to hear of some of the producers/Djs you like, and if you DJ thats all the better. ![]() Last edited by spinwax; 05-14-2002 at 05:26 PM. |

![]() What's going on spinwax,
You won't regret buying a rex. I myself used to drive a 68 stang in H.S., and a 90 GT in college. I definitely miss the low end torque, but damn, this car can turn! I will never buy a 2wd car again! Since you are a mustang person, can you recommend any good mechanics? My bro and I are going to try to resurrect the 68, possibly convert it to a California Special. We both love cars but suck behind a wrench. What kinda wax you spin? If you are a hip hop head, you would be one of a select few in the SCIC. |

![]() actually I sold my Tec 12MK2's ,,, (I suck anyways).. I have been contemplating buying some new MK3ds, but the WRX is first on my list.. Unfortunately after I get that everything will suffer, because every dime I have will go into that, if you know what I mean..
I almost bought a bunch of new stuff at Guitar Cntr, no payments, finance charges etc for a yr.. sounds good eh? do you frequent any clubs? 705 in hermosa where I live has been getting some great djs.. just saw Donald Glaude. I go to Sugar a lot. I have gotten older but I still hit up Spundae, Giant Etc.. So does anyone else know some good Scooby Dealers???? Where did you buy your cars??? |

For Mechanics.... boy I couldnt tell you.. I do everything myself. I was a mechanic and auto restorer for a long time.. Unfortunately I live in an apt, so I really dont do anything for anyone now, but my self.. My rollaway is in the kitchen if that tells you anything.. I moved from San Luis about 4 yrs ago, and have been strugling to get a house with a garage like I had up there. I really love the Muscle car stuff. My dad has 9 cars including a few Shelbys. He runs the largest Jag/british car parts restoration company in the US. They are dealers for the CSX continuation program Aluminum Cobras.. He is building a 289 FIA car now.. so awesome... If you guys ever need to talk 60s fords/shelbys Im your man... Maybe you guys can help me with my Scooby questions... ![]() Any one in Socal using the TEIN or Cusco coilovers? I think that will be one of my first mods.. Thanks again for the nice welcome you guys... I cant wait to hit up a G2G with everyone, so I can see some of your rides in person.. |

![]() Howdy. welcome to the club. Seems like most people here like Techno, so you're in good company.
You should go to an upcoming meet and see everybody's modded scoobies, you'll get a good idea of what you want to do first to your car. -S |

![]() Okay, flame suit on here
![]() I hate 98% of trance now ... probably because I listened to it sooo much 5-6 years ago, it all sounds the same. The only trance DJ I will still listen to is Dave Seaman. With that said, I listen to a lot of breakbeat, funky house, and mellow stuff, and some of the artists I listen to are: Way Out West Hybrid BT (some) Fila Brazilia (mellow downtempo) Kevin Yost (funky house) General Midi Rabbit in the Moon Starecase anything on the Circulation label (deep house) alot of other stuff I am probably missing, but thats a quick run down. I actually trade via my FTP server with about 7-8 people around the world and would venture to guess I have the most complete Hybrid, BT, and Way Out West collections in the world. You can message me on AIM (same as screen name here) and we can chat if you have similar interests ... Listening to Deep Dish as I write, ![]() Dave |

![]() As solidforce mentioned, we are both "top quality" djs. Hello and welcome. Can you please clue me into some new dance music that isnt horribly boring? I am worried, I get so bored listening to prog trance these days. I used to DIG it. I think this new stuff isnt nearly as good as the old stuff. Whine. Whine.

Funny you say you dont like any trance except Seaman, BT is considered a Trance producer/DJ... Solnaut. I generally like Trance.. I really used to like house but dont like the happy sound so much.. Trance is popular, because it is good and you dont just have to listen to it in a club to enjoy it. I really dont frequent clubs that much; just enjoy listening at home and in my el caro. Some house I do like, (not sure if you guys will call it house, but its considered that genre) Daniel Wang, Marschmellows,Si Band, Only Child, and Morgan Geist. Some of the good trance that I have been in touch with lately, Breeder, Noel Sanger (love this guy), Sebastian Toccata, Ricky le Roy, Embargo, Kemist, Tangredi, El Dorado are all decent track producers and not known just as platter spinners... Bigger names like Mass, Aurora, etc are good too. I really like some Acid and Down Tempo as well.. Im a big David Alvarado fan... and really like Kruder and Dorfmeister as well. Their DJ Kicks remix album is the bomb for a mellow dinner party. A lot of people would kill me, but I dont like Rabbit in the Moon.. ![]() Do you guys ever hit up DMC, Street Sounds, Wax, Dr. Freecloud's Mixing Lab or Ameoba? fun stuff.. I know DMC and Ameoba is still around, but I have not been to the others in some time... Freeclouds in OC was cool, do you know if they are still aroud?? Where do you buy your records.. got any good places?? Last edited by spinwax; 05-14-2002 at 10:51 PM. |

![]() You're right in general about BT, but I'm more into his "lesser known" works like the tracks off his UK MISL CD. (Satellite, Hip Hop Phenomenon, ...) And the rest of his stuff is really decent stuff ... part of the 2% of trance I do like ...
Good calls with Breeder, Marschmellows, and K&D as well ![]() I live close to Freeclouds, and stop by every now and then, its more catering to the gabber/hardcore/rave kiddie crowd tho, although they DO have everything else ... I go up to Melrose every once in a while, and used to go to Record Reaction in Long beach WAAAAAY back in the day... and Hyde Park Corner records here in irvine WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY back in the day when the original incarnation of MARS 103.1FM was around ... circa 1990 or so... I actually still have the actual broadcast of the final Top30 show that never aired .... such classics. Hit me up on AIM ... I have a database of my music (over 40gb).... Quote:
