I've seen anywhere from 500's to over 1,000's for spring rates and all sorts of bar setups on people's cars. It's really dependent on diffs, driving style, power output, aero, etc.

Well i totally sucked at the Utah match tour. I think my car needs some serious suspension tuning. It is all over the place. My first run was my best and i could never touch that time the rest of the weekend.

I hit cones and drove slow and never qualified for the shootout. Im so disappointed with myself.

Ill post some videos tomorrow.

I like how you glossed over the 40 of miller high life also on the table

My pimp cup holds 44 oz of margarita. I had 3 cups last night. It was good.

We're going to crank it up tomorrow night for the beer exchange as well if anyone wants to swing by. Row 11 where the white Subaru lives.

And just think, I haven't turned the wick up yet

Great to have you in the car Jay. I always like getting new perspectives

I've got some ideas for better turning off throttle, but we'll have to wait and see how it goes. I think some is driver induced issues for me in terms of going to deep into corners so I won't change anything just yet. I will say the new camber settings are working well though.

Really, the next changes are more power, gearing, PS conversion, and better driving.

You dont have powersteering? What are you doing with your life. Go get a volvo v70 pump from the junk yard right now and find the posts on DIY electric car forums of the right fitting and volvo wiring harness to get.

All the gold bling in my engine bay must be blinding you to the factory PS setup that's in there and loves to puke fluid when it's a high RPM course.

I was looking at the MR2 pump conversion this winter to stop the PS cut out issue. I over fill my reservoir to help, but I actually blew out enough at Nats to get the pump cut out on the west course. I just want to take the whole pump out of the equation and move the weight off the nose. I'll have to see if the Volvo pump is lighter or not. Size isn't an issue with where I'm planning to mount it, but I'd prefer to keep the weight down.

Why would you want to see 7th place ? I actually only have my fast run from the east course. The west course I have my first run where I cone and that's it. Neither are very good.

Tim, volvo pump isnt lighter, but its bigger, and you can get them all day for $70 at the wreckers vs the mr2 pump where you have to get lucky as **** to find one and pay $350 for it.

Luckily I had one lined up already for less than the ebay prices. I'll still have to source fittings but it should be worth it. The real question is do I want to mount it in the trunk or not.

I wouldn't mount it any farther back than the rear seat/trunk divider. Probably inside the cabin if that's legal.

Having done a 207 swap in my GD wrx, I am now forced to run SM. Le sigh, my car is way too undermodified to be competitive.

As it sits

Engine:
Stock 207 w/ stock exhaust/tune/Wally255 on 93.
Perrin inlet.

Suspension:
ISC 8k F / 6k R coilovers.
Whiteline 22mm RSB w/ Kartboy endlinks.

Interior:
Corbeau FX1 Pro seats w/ 5pt harness
NRG Harness Bar.
Stripped rear seats.

Wheel/Tire:
18x7 Koyo CRTek wheels.
215.40.18 Hankook v12

Drivetrain:
Stock 2005 WRX drivetrain w/ SPT short shifter.

I know I need to work on the following:
  • Better Wheel/Tire combo
  • H6 rear brake upgrade
  • Bigger RSB to help with Rotation/understeer.

Most recent Autocross. This course was very on/off camber, and before my coilovers.

Your ride height looks way too low. You could probably find quite a few free seconds just by raising the car. The rear end looks 1" to 1.5" too low.

Ehhhh, the ride height isn't horrible, but it could go up some. I'd get a good alignment first and raise the car maybe .5" all around to start. Put -2.5 degrees in front and -1 degree or -.5 degree camber out back. 0 Toe and don't worry about the rear brake upgrade. It's not worth it.

The most time will be gained from going to events, letting the suspension work, and getting wider tires on wider rims.

Wheels and tires will definitely be my #1 priority over winter / season downtime.

As will a coilover rebuild as it appears the rear collars are seized to each other.

Personally I'd skip going to a bigger rear bar, 22mm is big enough. You'll want to keep your r160 somewhat happy, so the less doglegging the better. If you have the stock FSB, consider going to a big front bar to help control front camber loss. I'm running the same spring rates as you with a Perrin 25mm FSB (on soft) and a Cusco 22mm RSB (on soft.) I saw a decent improvement by adding the front bar. This will make more of a difference if you have a fairly aggressive alignment like Subydude suggests. I'm not saying what I have is the best setup, but I'm much happier/faster than I was with just the rear sway bar on full stiff.

Yes, I have stock FSB and RSB set to full stiff.

I'm a complete noob when it comes to setting up suspension.

What does running full soft achieve?

What damper settings are you running on coilovers? How many clicks from full soft/hard?
