Unhappy Re. A Good Repair Shop in MA for Cheap Clutch Repairs?

Hey Guys!
I'm having trouble with my clutch...it sticks and grinds lots. Some subaru dealers are saying I'm looking at $1050 or more...yikes! I can't afford that at all....can anyone recomment a good Massachusetts service shop that won't screw me? They say I need a new clutch and possibly a new flywheel....don't know why they don't just re-surface the flywheel...but anyways...help?!! (I have a 1998 subaru impreza rs 2.5)

Any good mechanic who is familiar with Subarus shoud be able to do a clutch, and usually a bit cheaper than a dealer.

I have a mechanic in Waltham who is quite good - he did the clutch in my fiancee's '95 L, and also did a clutch in my old Nissan.

Where are you located? PM me if you want his name & address.

-Brian

p.s. - you are probably right about the flywheel. Unless you have some truly outstanding damage to it, you oughta be able to just resurface it...

Hey KD7000, did you get my PM? In case not, I used to live in Waltham...Beaver Street. Just recently moved but not too far away. It would be great to have that name and address for that mechanic you swear by. Need the discounts ya know!?

I guess I'm also wondering if the clutch could be responsible for any pulling or tugging in the engine when the gears are changed?

Stealth- I replied to your PM last night, but my tracking says it's unread.

Strange. Check your PM's again.

John- You realize that you're such a n00b that your profile says you drive a Dodge Stealth?

Just kidding... But you might want to update your profile, and maybe add a location or sumthin'.

Good luck with the clutch.
