Default What's the best bang-for-the-buck exhaust upgrade?

Can anyone educate me on the best STX legal exhaust upgrade that won't run me more than a few hundred bucks. I have a 02 WRX Wagon. The main thing I'm after is for the boost to arrive sooner. Some high rpm HP gains would be nice but not essential. The only change to my exhaust is an early Prodrive axle back which I'd like to keep although I know it's not much better than the stock unit as far as restriction goes. I don't live in an area that tests emmissions so no worries there.

Thanks guys. Gutted uppipe sounds like a no dollar upgrade - I like the sound of that. How do I go about getting the guts out?

Is the replica downpipe decent enough quality that it won't leak?

You could also look into the HKS downpipe. It eliminates two cats and gives great gains.
As for the uppipe, gutting the stocker is the way to go. It will take some time but it's quite do-able. There are write ups all over the boards.

I think I need that last cat to stay STX legal.

You just have to be sure when you do gut hte up-pipe you get it cleaned out extreamly well, you don't want little bits and pieces FODing out your Turbo.
