Default no boost only 5psi

I can only get 5 psi from my turbo. All of the vac lines look fine. No leaks found. The wastegate actuator can be physically moved. The car has aftermarket exhaust, bov, intake. Any ideas??

Boost solenoid is probably fried. Try that as a source. Get (or borrow) a cheap MBC and if it works, that's yo problem

How long has it been doing this for?
Do you have any CEL's? If so what are they?
Does the car drive fine besides having no boost?
If not what other problems are there?

Let us know,

Have not messed with any of the vac lines this year. Only have tapped in for a boost guage. Since the problem I disconnected it. Tried putting on a mbc. No difference. I am stumped. Any ideas?

Might sound dumb but just to cover everything here.....you said you disconnected the boost gauge. Did you plug the vacuum line it was tapped into?

OK just checking. I had this same problem before. Problem turned out to be my TXS RBV was stuck open. Check your valve since it's one of the easier things to check.

You'd think there would be a code if the wastegate solenoid was toast?

if it was ELECTRICALLY toasted, yes.

it could also be mechanically fubar, or pneumatically dead.

three failure modes, really.

I had installed some test piece that I hooked up to the air inlet tube going into the intercooler to pressure test the system. I could not hear any leaks. The pressure did drop slowly which may have been the fitting. I did get a cel with the car running when I was pissing around with the vac lines. I did have a problem back with the egt sensor setting a cel, but no egt code. I used one of the scanners from work and pulled a code p1091 bank 2 sensor mix rich limit exceeded. I do have a catless exhaust system with some things wired in to take care of the cel. If you clear the code the light will stay off for about 10 seconds which in that time I can rev the car and get about 10 psi boost. Better but not like it was. This car is pissing me off!!! O ya I work at a chevy, caddy, vw dealership and nobody has a damn clue. Help me

Sounds like the same problem i'm having now, and i can;t solve it either. The only difference is that I get 8 psi instead of 5. Will check the solenoid thing and post back if i find anything.

If its 8psi your probably missing the brass restrictor.

Exactly. The little hose that attaches to the turbo's compressor outlet nipple is missing the restrictor.

When I ordered the new t-hose, the guy at the dealer took the liberty to put it together before giving it to me. The problem is that he forgot the restrictor. Problem solved.
