Default bugeye build..

sooo as many of you know I bought mgamans old bugeye and brought it to nevada with me for school. I did a six speed swap, brembos, yadda yadda yadda. Took it to miles at fineline imports to have it tuned on an accessport v2. I made 305 Awhp and 322 awtq... not enough power the car was still slow... about a week after the tune I blew a HG and spun a rod bearing, and after doing research I decided to go back to a 2liter. so now Im currently finishing building my closed deck 2.o block. CP 93mm 8.5:1 forged pistons, crower I-beam rods, acl race bearings, arp casebolts, arp headstuds, cosworth hg, supertech stainless valves brian crower springs and ti retainers, mild head work, Brian crower 280 cams,P.E 800cc injectors, perrin fuel rails, tgv deletes, turboxs fmic, smc meth injection, spec c meth tank, Bride lowmax GIAS seats. DEFIs, 6 point roll cage, BC racing inverted coilovers, strano 32mm front sway bar, whiteline 27mm rear sway bar, Unabombers sexy rear end kit, polyurethane bushing kit. DBA 4000 slotted rotors, Hawk hp plus pads, koyo rad, arc ti rad and alt shroud, and a bunch of other stuff Im forgetting but will add later..

heres the car prior to blowing a headgasket and not making enough power...

whats this picture missing TED???? am i supposed to race with hopes and dreams HAHAHAHA.

some parts

I will for sure I have more pics but they arestill on the cam. Im hoping for 500 awhp. if not im going to be a sad sad asian haha. once my bugeye is finished, Ill be posting up my 2jz rx7 FD swap even though its not a subbie. but anyways what kind of build are you doing akej20??

also they never had usdm bugeye sti, i just did a 6 speed swap and what not... it had sti stickers and v7 sti headlights on it when i bought it but since its not a true sti i have taken off all the sti badging on it. lol anyways sti owners are usually pissed when they get walked on by a wrx. with a big arse exhaust leak

im still searching for exactly what im going to do but it will be 2.0-2.3, built heads, i want to rev about 8500-9000 safely, with a 30r or 35r something that spools quicker yet can go into 20psi range with out to much strain, and like you i have full STi driveline from an 04 sti with a Spiider controller and brembos.

thats option 1, option 2 is twin 34's with a custom header and front mount, and same motor build as above.

That's cause the doors were from an sti. The same sti that provided the drivetrain for ol'schools bugeye.

My job requires me to have a meticulous eye for detail. I can generally pick out any inconsistencies if given time to look at something for a period of time. Not really hard to pick out STi badging on a non-STi car.

Misbadging cars is just one of my pet peeves, is all. Okay, I get it. It has a 6-speed tranny from an STi. You have doors from an STi. Great. Still, you don't have an STi, no matter how fast it is.

It's like Mustang guys badging their cars as Cobras, Neon guys dressing their car up like an SRT-4, hell even some of the Lancers wanna look like Evos...

On a side note, are the 6-speed trannies in the Scoobs that much better? I know in the Evos, people are ditching the 6-speeds for the 5-speeds because the tranny is garbage. Plus, rowing through all those short ass gears gets old after a while. I know my friend had an STi, and he'd be in 5th gear by the time he broke the line at the end of the track....and I'd still be in my powerband in 4th. He'd lose hundreths of seconds per shift while I was still enjoying one or two gears.

With all that being said, it is a nice car. I give him props for not only the way it looks...but for the power it was once putting down, and I'm sure will again.

6spd subaru transmissions are very tough. I heard evo 6spd transmissions break a lot but your 5spd doesn't. Its the other way around for us subie guys.

I won't even get into the STi badge battle lol *steers clear*

build looks really good.

Alot of people forget what STI stands for and think it is just a car.

But any way sounds like a nice build.

Well since I'm on my phone & it is off topic I'll make this short. STI stands for Subaru Tecnica International, it is a performance company that is a part of Subaru. The WRX STI is a version of the WRX designed by STI, they also worked on the rally cars. This is why there are other STI versions of Subaru's like the Forester STI. The STI badge represents a performane company, not a car.
